I'm flying back to bangkok from london next week, and i want to take my electric...but people have been warning me that london airports are getting super-weird and might not let you take it on as hang luggage...
i don't really want to buy a hard case, and even then would it be safe to put it at the bottom of the plane??

The advice that other people are giving you on here is just a tiny bit off.

First of all, asking your airline isn't going to get you anywhere because they don't call the shots. Airport security sets the rules, so you should contact them directly. I took my guitar through London Heathrow last year right after the bomb scare in the UK, and the guy at the security checkpoint didn't want to let me take my guitar through, but I got him to go ask his supervisor if it was okay, and fortunately his supervisor knew the rules better and he said yes.

If you are going to be travelling with your guitar a lot, you should probably buy a hard case anyway unless your guitar is inexpensive and replaceable.

You should NEVER check your guitar in the airplane baggage compartment, even in a hard case. The extreme temperatures and pressures in the baggage compartment can damage your guitar.

this is a hard selection. The holiday provides you with a super style of stable thoughts, however the guitar is a potential which will stay with you for existence in case you preserve taking part in it. I additionally began taking part in bass some years after that. I additionally play the drums. I say pass with the guitar. The Philippians will continuously be there. Every airline is different. But, my son recently took a trip and had the same concerns. They did allow him to store it with the flight attendents. Nothing different than storing a stroller, which I have seen over and over again. They will allow you to assist where that guitar will be able to go.
You will not be able to keep it with you, since it would be considered a projectile...Only things you can store under the seat of the person in front of you and over head.
Give it a try, but have someone stick around until your sure, so they can take it back home if necessary. Rent a guitar when you get to bangkok.

I see guitars on the plane all the time but contact your specific airline to make sure you won't have any problem. They deal with musicians every day and generally I have seen the instruments put in the over head bins. good luck

they will allow you to do that. Carry it with you, if you cover it, you will have to unzip it all the time, and you will feel like you are a hunted terrorist.
You will have to keep it on the head bins. But do confirm with your airline first. Safe journey to the amazing Bangkok
