Everyone can use more sleep but the question is are willing to go to bed early i remember being 12 and i hated to go to bed at 10. Also are you grades suffering at all because of lack of sleep and are you eating right at breakfast?

When I was a senior in highschool, I also had a 30 hour a week job, and also had several practices throughout the week for extra curriculars. I was getting between 6-8 hours of sleep for awhile, then my grandma told me that I should be getting a lot more. She said I needed 10. I didn't believe her at first (stubborn teenager) of course. But eventually I got tired of her nagging me about it and I tried it. I had to shuffle some things around. Like I had to do a little homework here, a little of it there, since I normally did it at night after work. But once I started sleeping for 10 hours a night, i felt so much better. My mind was more clear, I could focus better, and my grades came up from b's to a's with no extra effort. So just think about getting a little more sleep. Trust me, when you're grown and supporting yourself, you'll wish you could go to bed at 5 in the afternoon!

that's like 6 hours, lol yah. I go to bed at 11, however I have a TV so I don't fall asleep until at the earliest midnight. I have to get up at 7. During school 6 - 7 hours are normal. If you are a very young child though, they need at least 8 hours. I'd be worried if you got more than 6 or 7 hours of sleep a night. That means you're going to bed at 8:30 - which isn't normal in 7th grade.

There is no easy answer for this.
Firstly, different people sleep different number of hours. Some very successful people only need to sleep 3 hours a night.
Also younger people need to sleep less hours than older people. Or more accurately, older people usually have a sleep cycle that means they only sleep 6-7 hours a night. Then they wake up early. The problem is then they are tired and go to sleep early (when they should have an afternoon nap).
As you head into your teenage years you will start growing rapidly, and you will need to sleep more than 9 hours a night.
If you exercise and eat properly you will sleep better, but need less hours sleep.
Finally, if you are tired every day then sleep may be the issue. If you can't sleep enough at night, try having a short sleep in the afternoon.

experts say that the adult human body needs at least 8 hours of sleep a night . This is stated in most work situations. However i am not sure if it applies to your age group. If you are having problems staying awake during class and/or it is affecting your work then try sleeping an hour earlier and see how you cope. Too much sleep can sometimes be a negative thing though depending on the situation and the person. Keeping a strict rountine in regards to sleeptime helps your body adapt to the sleep time allocated by you ( provided it is over 8hours).

I go to bed around that time too and I wake up at 7. One of my friends is a health nut, and she told me that you should always get at least nine hours of sleep. If you go to bed at 9:30, waking up at 6:30 will give you nine hours, but maybe try to go to bed closer to 9:30 than to 10

Seems OK, don't go to bed later than 10. Question to ask yourself is do you feel well rested or do you feel like you're dragging yourself out of bed in the morning.

Only you can answer that. How do you feel when you get up? Are you sluggish through the day? If you feel fine and have not problems concentrating during the day, the amount of sleep you get is probably okay.
