Egoistic, egotistic, self-centered, self-absorbed, selfish, call it what you will. How do they make you feel, and more importantly why? If they annoy you, why? Is there anything wrong with selfishness?

If you believe in external, absolute morality, you're in luck, because you can explain your feelings. You can always say selfishness is wrong, that is why it hurts people.

But if you adhere to the idea that only the fittest survive, selfishness of others should not bother you one bit. You should accept it as a positive value and wish them well. After all they only do what they have been conditioned to do. Moreover, you should strive in life to become stronger and ensure your survival through selfish acts.

Any thoughts on this?

being around them makes me feel like i should be somewhere else. Why do they annoy me? because they are not open for help or growth so i'll be just wasting my precious time being around them when i can be doing something more constructive.

I have thoughts yes. As a Narcissist I have trouble being around big egos. Opposites attract you know.
However I have lived a long life believing that you should lead, follow or get out of the way. So if I meet a more qualified leader I will follow.
Just as there is always someone tougher, there can be someone more qualified to lead. To resist would be poor stewardship of your well being.
As in the case of Jesus. None better to follow.

We're all self-centred and selfish - it's a normal human trait - and we annoy other people just as they annoy us. Nothing to to do with the fittest surviving - everything to do with sin.

I feel self-centered people are very materialistic. I am still friends with them, but I do take into consideration their selfishness. They just don't have their priorities correct. I'm not going to tell a friend this. I think it's hard for wealthy people not to be self-centered. They lack for nothing.

Actually, empathy and teamwork is an excellent trait for survival. United we stand, divided we fall.
