Do people believe there is an "identity etiquette" for Internet groups?
I am on a yahoogroups site. There is a member on that group who has three identities on that group. It is clear to me that this person uses at least one of the other identities to push their own personal agenda, one identity is the "reall life" person. The other "identity" is now inactive. Would you say something to the moderators or would you just let it go? I do know this person and have had a falling out with them, so I am looking for people's opinion to assist me in clearing my head a bit. Thank you.

The purpose of groups varies so widely, but the responsibility of the moderator for the smooth running of the group remains in every situation.

And, in today's increasingly "sue them" society, moderators may one day find themselves on the end of a law suit for failing to control member behaviour.

In this case, the moderator could very well already be aware of this situation, or if they are not, it is something they *should* be aware of, even if they do nothing at all about it.

Some mods allow members to have various personalities within the group, as it can make debate livelier, while others prefer members remain 'real', to encourage honesty and sincere friendship.

You could contact the moderator, explain the situation (including that you have had a run-in with the person/s involved) and then leave it at that.

The mod will then have all the information needed to make decisions based on what happens in the group.

You could also ask this question within your group, and assess the reaction of other members. If there is a lot of support for allowing only one ID, you would certainly have a strong case to approach the moderator to make this a rule.

Cheers :-)

The Internet is saturated with pseudo identities. Generally this is acceptable but in your specific case it may be undesirable to skew discussions or add weight to an agenda. If the moderator hasn't noticed the split identity, they probably ought to be aware of it, as it is a very common occurrence.

You can only report someone if they are breaking the Community Guidelines or Terms of Service (see the Forum for those), not because you have had a disagreement. If you have fallen out with another user, either use the chat room less often or don't visit it.

what is there to clear...your problem on whom you know...
or the impression you take upon yourself to..identify yourself as a control freak on the Internet...and what right have you...
to any ones identification or opinion... to clear your conscience...anyway....maybe this is your only life...
and you are hooked upon...a sight that others find
a means of communication,,,as its factual it has nothing to do with identity...or finding a way...out of your personal situation
nor is it a life...unless you look for one on this game box
you seem to make out as a means to..entitle yourself...
being you are so perfectly active coming on so strong...
a few days ago on this sight...well click...click...out of sight
...no thank you...!!! you need but yourself to clear your mind
from your confusion...no assistance,,,one does not use people as a need for your personal excuses...

enable me guess, the two Eoghan or Aycora (regardless of in the event that they sound comparable recently). My *group* hasn't incredibly led me to have faith something greater effective than that all and sundry human beings could desire to have the comparable rights and opportunities in spite of gender. i assume that would make us "rebels, renegades and dissidents" against the patriarchy yet hardly ever against society, considering the fact that females are variety of 50% of suggested society and not all adult adult males oppose feminism.

You seem to be looking for our jsutification to continue an interpersonal war. your interst in ettiqueet seems to me to be a cover!

given that I intuit this i would let it go at moderator level and conseqeuntly not drag yourself down any further. wait until they encourage paedophilia, incite racial hatred make racist or libelous comments before getting moderators involved!
