People remain faithful to organized religion out of ignorance or fear. Organized religion has always been corrupt. God is nothing like He's been portrayed by well meaning preachers who believe that God needs their help to get people "saved".
They have turned the gospel into a business and compete for 'customers'.
The popular doctrine of "an ever burning hell" is just one of the many ploys that organized religion uses to enslave the simple-minded. What makes this so sad is the fact that ANYONE can understand the definition of biblical words, but they would rather believe a lie than search out the truth for themselves.

Admission to heaven is not based on a persons works (good, bad or indifferent) but on their submission to God. If God were to let people into heaven who are unwilling to submit to his orders, the results would be chaos - like we already see on earth today. So while a person may be doing "good deeds", if they are not the specific ones that God wants him doing, they are pointless. The person can only know the specific will of God is he is believes in and listen to God.
Kind of like you could have the greatest driver in the world. But if he refuses to listen to the traffic rules, he becomes a menace on the roads. So any person who does not listen and follow God's instructions to him is a menace to God.
As far as the "murderers" getting into heaven, do you have a problem with salvation? God offers to anyone who truely turns from their sins a second chance. If a murder turns from his sins, and begins to follow God's plan for his life, he makes it in. Admission to heaven is not based on a persons works (good, bad or indifferent) but on their submission to God.

Be thankful my friend that religion is being dealt with by God. These churches are having to decide between the sheep and the goats...the wheat and the tares. And it is about time that false religion of any kind be dealt with.
If it's Satan's church, Satan will show up.
If it's God's church, God will show up.
You can see Scripture coming alive today. The sad thing is that few people know the Word of God.

Innocent and credulous people are not so good at discerning a con from a truth, All religions are immoral for presenting a false explanation of the world to innocent and credulous people in order to exploit them.

Evidently, you've never had someone in authority intercede for you, or gain admittance for you to someplace you had no right to be, simply because they wanted to do something nice for you.
That's all religion (Christianity in particular) is really about ... but on a grand scale.

that's not a basic rule for "any religion," just the larger, organized ones, and it can be argued that large-scale organization itself means they are not trule religions anymore.
you certainly have a strong point, but it does not apply to all (or even most) religions.
