I liked Fleetwood Mac in my teen years (the 80's) long before I got saved. But I always wondered:

Was Stevie Nicks really a witch of some sort.....or was that just a long-running rumor?

Just curious......

Hi, Primo! I'm not a pagan or a wiccan, but I can answer your question.

This false rumor has haunted Stevie for years, probably because of the way she dresses on stage, some of her lyrics and the name of her publishing company.

On April 28 1998, Stevie participated in a live Yahoo interview; one participant asked about the rumor that she's a witch. Her response: "i have no idea what precipitated those rumor..." (sic) and "i am not a witch. get a life!"

So I guess the lesson is that you can't always believe what you hear.

Wicca is a relatively new religion. It was created in the 1950's. It was based, in part, on ancient Pagan beliefs. Paganism is a broad umbrella term for many religions. Basically any religion other than Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are considered Pagan. Hinduism, which would be considered Pagan, is reportedly the oldest religion. Paganism as I think you mean it (such as Druidism and other such religions) is certainly older than Christianity. Many Christian holidays, rituals, and even Saints are "borrowed" from the Pagan religions. Christmas for instance. Same with Easter. Even the trinity. They are all "borrowed" from Pagan beliefs. Saint Brigid was at one time a Goddess. She was lifted part and parcel from Pagan beliefs and transplanted into Christian Sainthood. The Celts passed their religious beliefs down by word of mouth, they did not have a written history early on. But that does not negate the fact that it predates Christianity by quite some time. As a matter of fact, the Romans forcefully converted the Pagan masses throughout Europe ("borrowing" their rituals, holidays and Goddess/Gods to make the conversion easier to take). So obviously, the Pagans were there first.

I never heard that, but I liked the band, just was not a big fan.

However the group called Coven who sang One Tin soldier were witches. One tin soldier is the them song for the movie Billy Jack in 1971. You sound a little young so you may not know the song, band or movie.

You can't listen to Fleetwood Mac now that you're saved? Is that a condition of being saved?
hmm...
But the answer to your question is, yes she is.

I don't know, but she certainly was bewitching.

And some of the songs she wrote were certainly inspired by Goddess myths and such.

She is Pagan, but she tends to keep her path to herself.
