And do you think it is ok for you to have sharia law in your neighborhood.

Note: sharia law is the Islamic laws that includes but not limited to, women takes less than men in inheritance, chopping hand for stealing, 100 lashes if you make sex before marriage, chopping hand and leg in opposite directions if you corrupt the earth, being thrown from a high building or beheaded if you are homosexual. marriage can be conducted even for babies, and sex after pubrty. you ll be stoned to death if you cheat on your wife or husband.

for reference guys: well, go and read the quran and let me know, these there, and it is different from the bible, that Allah in the quran ordered Muslims to carry them out.

here are some whitewashed versions of Islamic sites (to make some dhimmis) trying to defend their punishments, but obviously you can see the err still

Well,
I think Sharia law is antiquated and does not actually prevent the crimes from happening. Look at Saudi arabia! I have had arab friends from Saudi Arabia, lived and born there, who tell me homosexuality is so common among men nothing is really done about it! Prostitution is so commonplace he tells me that near Mecca they have huge buildings with prostitutes harbouring inside them so that after prayers some bad muslims, thinking their sins are cleansed after circling the kaaba a couple of times, go and relieve themselves and sin in those buildings with those prostitutes!
And Saudi Arabia actively enforces Sharia law. Still, crimes which should be nil and zero because of such harsh laws happen quite commonly like any other country, maybe even worse!
Laws have to be progressive, and constructive. For example, just because you jail a drug addict, or beat him up, or lash him 100 times, does it make him stop? No, after you finish punishing him and throw him out on the streets he goes back to what he does best, begging/stealing/crime to do drugs again, because NO ONE tries to really help him positively!
If you lash a woman/man 100 times for pre marital sex, do you honestly think that they will believe it is wrong? No! It won't! Making people fear the punishment is just ONE aspect of a punishment but you have to help the people to change and give them resources, time, effort and educate them to really, truly turn over a new leaf and be able to return to society and contribute.
If you chop off a thief's hand. How is he going to turn over a new leaf and work without his hand? He will just be either a beggar or go back stealing again because everyone will know he was a thief and not employ him, and even if someone wanted to employ him he won't be able to work effectively. You have to give people a chance to change and Sharia law does not achieve that!
Besides, in the Qu'ran there are only 4 punishments officially meted out, the rest of Sharia law is derived from the Hadiths, reported sayings and doings of the Prophet of Islam. But the Prophet himself forbade his followers to write hadiths of him...so Sharia law is to me, even if I were a Muslim...an innovation and NOT VALID!!

No i am not in favour of any kind of religions law with religious police, Muslim or Christian or otherwise.

However, in the Sharia debates, for example in NIgeria, i have noticed that the Christians come out in news reports looking as though they oppose Sharia law because they want to drink alcohol and visit prostitutes. What kind of message does that send about Christianity? Maybe it is a media relations issue, but i think those who oppose Sharia need to be more vocal in the media about their reasons for doing so.

If you think having sex before marriage is good, then sure make it in your constitution.
If you think being homosexual is good, go ahead, have a new law for homosexuals.
Stealing a merc from my neighbor is good, I get it for free, I should get some more merc's from the other neighborhood. its nice to have a such fleet of cars.

Well buddy, these are crimes, crimes shouldnt be encouraged. Thats why we have strict laws, they arent harsh.
I dont fear myself being chopped or having lashes, because, I wont commit any sort of crime. Many people say, " I wont live under Sharia law", WHY, because they fear, that they may do such crimes.

btw dude, most of the punishments you mentioned are falsely put up by you.

May Allah help you.

I really don't want to live under any set of laws that are influenced by a religion or particular moral system. Laws should only deal with social issues not morality.

But yes, the Sharia laws and punishments sound particularly bad.

I grew up in a Muslim home. In my country the Muslims don't live under the Sharia law. But I still think their practices are cruel.

So my answer is no way on hell and earth I would agree to living under that law.

Ex-muslim? well... i think u were misinformed about islam..
u talk about it as if it were some people killing - torturing religion.. whereas it is the exact opposite.. it is true that in islam a stealer should have his hand cut... when a person knows that such a punishment exists he wouldnt even think about stealing.... when u have a hard punishment or consequences... a person will think more than a hundred times before doing something wrong...
havent u noticed the crime and rape rates in countries that apply these rules?????

and besides... the thing about homosexuals???? looool u kidding right?? its not true! it is true that islam is against it.. but we dont just throw people form high buildings... stop harrasing islam...

Not at all. We live in a place that was founded on religious freedom, even though that can be questioned at times.

I would never live in a place that imposes it's religious laws and practices on me.

No. Nobody should be forced to live under a theocracy if they are not followers of that religion.
