As a former bar manager I studied the interpersonal actions of men and women for a long time. Here are my findings in regard to the question of two girls vs. one.

When a woman is alone, she often has a subtle barrier that she erects around her. She will often not look at or encourage any man around her. This is due to the fact that she is more nervous and less comfortable. However, when she is with a girlfriend, both will immediately act more flirty and confident. Now that she has back up, she will usually be much more comfortable and willing to make eye contact with men she finds attractive.

This being the case, if a woman is alone and sending out defensive vibes, she is not inviting men into her space. The result? Only obnoxious men who couldn't care less about her feelings will approach. When she has back up, she will send out little invitations with eye contact and smiles. Now she attracts the normal men.

Believe me, I could write a book on the subject.
