In order to interpret the story, you must understand the 'zeitgeist'... the spirit of the times. When that story was written, the 'cosmology' of the day said that the universe consisted of the earth, with a solid dome (the sky) over it... and heaven was basically 'on the other side of the sky'. God sat up there, on his throne, looking down upon the world. In that context, and considering that essentially everybody was ignorant and superstitious, the story of Jesus ascending into heaven was 'believeable'.
Today, there is absolutely no way that any SANE person would believe such outrageously ridiculous codswallop. The fact that hundreds of millions of people DO believe such outrageously ridiculous codswallop is not an indication of the 'truth' of the story... it is an indication that hundreds of millions of people are NOT sane.
Insane is 'normal'... and the inmates are running the asylum.

Three men die and go to heaven, St. Peter says you cannot come into heaven until you tell me the true meaning of heaven! The first man says, I know, I know, that’s when you put a tree in your house and hang ornaments on it and put presents under it, NO YOU MORON, St. Peter says, go sit over there, 2nd man says, I know, that’s where you shoot off firecracker, rockets and you wave the flag, NO YOU BIG DUMMY, go sit with the other idiot! Third man says, well that’s when Jesus woke from the dead, rolled the stone out of the way, STOP!, says St. Peter, you two dummies come here and listen to this guy, he knows what he his talking about, OK, now finish your story. Well like I said Jesus woke from the dead, rolled the stone out of the way, went outside, didn’t see his shadow, and went back inside for six more weeks!!

Yes. Jesus and Heavenly Father have glorified bodies of flesh and bone. He demonstrated this so that we would better understand the resurrection.

That's what the book says.
But no, c'mon. If his physical body was taken to heaven, that means heaven is a physical place that can be visited. I always thought heaven was supposed to be less of a physical location, and more a completely different plane of existence.
I checked DexOnline...and the only 'Heavens' listed with addresses were a mobile home park and a gentlemen's club.

It is not hard to explain at all...
1. The human body rose from the grave
2. As that human body was being taken up, it was changed into a spiritual body, just as will happen to the rest of us who are Christians when Jesus returns for us.
Simple.

The Glorious Qur'an says the ones who assumed they had crucified Jesus had taken it for granted that it was him. But he was neither crucified, nor killed, bust raised to God's side.
]And according to authentic Islamic Shi'a beliefs, he would come back to earth alongside with Imam Mahdi, a descendant of Prophet Muhammad, and they would hand in hand harbinger the establishment of God's Administration on Earth.

There is no greater demonstration of divine power than to ascend to heaven in the very same flesh in which you were crucified, killed, and resurrected.
There were plenty of eye witnesses to these events. So many, that the testimony of scripture is totally unneccesary.

Jesus went up to Heaven but it seems like He had a spiritual body after the resurrection since He could do things like appear in a room that had all of the doors locked and since the Bible says that we will be like Him at the resurrection where we are supposed to be raised in eternal spiritual bodies too.
1 Corinthians 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. 43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. 44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 Thus also it is written, "The first man Adam became a living soul;" the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, that which is spiritual is not first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual. 47 The first man was from earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. 48 Like the man made of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And just as we have borne the image of the man made of dust, let us also bear the image of the heavenly Man. 50 Now this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor can corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all die, but we shall all be changed-- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

yes, God's Word confirms this and there were many witnesses. Amazing......
GUARDS were put on Jesus's tomb and the stone covering it were enormous and no easily moved. The tomb was found o be empty on the third day and Mary Magdalene ran back to the disciples on discovering this, asking where have they taken the Lord. They too discovered it empty except for the burial wrappings and the cloth binding Jesus' head. Peter and John realised the scripture had come true, Jesus was raised from the dead.... Subsequently she met Jesus, though did not immediately recognise him. He told her he was returning first to his Father God before returning to meet with the disciples. He gave them reassurance it was him because they found it difficult to believe; he showed them his scars from the crucifiction, Thomas had to touch them to accept it was true. After a time spent teaching them he was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from sight. Two angels spoke to the disciples as they looked up in the sky and said, 'Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw him go to heaven'. Jesus had to go in order that his Holy Spirit could cover the earth and carry on his ministry through people on earth.
I do hope this help with the understanding.
John 20-21 and Acts 1 for reference
