I've been married for 40 years. In my day you fell in love and got married. Today the morals of the young are changing. Not for the better in my view but who is to say I am right.
Adultery can be viewed as sinful but occasionally it happens and it can be a regretful thing to have done. It really depends on the person how they handle it. Life without marriage isn't sinful in anyway. It's love that's important. There is a shortage of love throughout the world and I reckon God would look on anybody with favour if they had love in their hearts.
In the greater world of God I don't believe he would hold that against you if you were filled with regret. We all sin at times and I think God would turn a blind eye to that. There are sinners amongst us who commit vile crimes and whatever punishment they receive it is not enough, but adultery is way down the scale to me.

Adultery and fornication both go against God's plan for how we are to live our lives.
Matthew 19:4 He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh'? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."
If someone claims to be a Christian but their life is characterized by fornication and/or adultery the Bible is clear that they are not on their way to Heaven.
Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

There is no loop hole morally, but if you are single and the other person is married but, separated for a period of time some will use that as an loop hole sort-ta-say If you are a person who really cares why not wait til she gets a divorce? Then that way you are just having unmarried sex. I would just remember one thing when you final grow-up and get married how would you feel knowing someone was trying to find a loop hole to do the same thing as you are doing, Just a thought....

imagine you're top dog among your buddies because you're such a stud with the ladies. you've slept with all these women because you're such a man, and blah blah blah...
now imagine you meet the woman of your dreams, and you have to explain why it is you've slept with all these women, or why you've cheated on her. of course you'll regret things like that eventually. i think that's one reason (and a very overlooked reason at that) that the bible speaks out against fornication and adultery.

The bible seems to encourage it. Look at the stories of Noah & Genesis.
