We're remodeling, and the designer suggested 5' x 5'. Would that work? I'm thinking rectangular would be better than square.

A 5x5 is fine. Our new home was just completed and ours is more rectangular so is probably 5x4 and we can both stand on either side and shower comfortably. Note: put in multiple shower heads.

5'x5' is more than enough but if space is available, than it can be more than that and it would make it more attractive and spacious for you two, but also you can put a sitting area, so can water runs over your body when sitting down.....and it can be square or trangular or how ever, shape doesn't matter
