No. It is my understanding that we should strive our best to avoid temptation and lead a life which is favoured by god so we are not replaced by others....and you have provided us with a very reliable source.

Yes you're right but the verse also means that if we don't live by Sharia law God will not be on our side, that's what is happening now we are the most targeted on earth!!! if you make a simple statistic you'll find that 90% of war fatalities are Muslims, this will never stop until we go back on the path of true Islam and on the path of our prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and his companions.
I'm optimistic, things are starting to change and we musn't forget that Islam will overcome the whole world because that's in Quran and Hadith's prophecies.

Allah swt always has his people in every generation. If you look at those who came before, you can see that Allah swt wants his people to advance in their understanding and in their faith.
In order to obey Allah swt, we first need to know what His will is. His instructions for us are not the same in every situation. Sometimes it is His will to have war, and sometimes it is His will to have peace. If we make a mistake and do the wrong thing at the wrong time, we are disobeying His will. Therefore it is important to find out His will before undertaking any course of action. Otherwise we may end up doing somthing thinking we are obeying Allah swt when we are actually disobeying Him.

Thank you for bringing up this point. Sura 9 is called "Tauba" which can be translated as "repentance" which means the same thing to Muslims as to Christians and Jews. It means turning back - ostensibly turning back towards God.
Additionally, Muhammad (saw) said that the greatest Jihad was that of our own selves struggling with our baser instincts. So when we are "called to go forth in the way of Allah" we are being asked to look at our own selves and correct the mistakes that we make along the way. Anger, enmity, greed, lust, etc. We are called to make our lives more spiritual and less material, to help others.
If our lives constantly sink further and further into depravation we suffer. We do not have to wait for the afterlife for this suffering, it begins right here right now with our own regret, shame and guilt. But these things end with sincere repentance and change of behavior. Surely we as individuals are personally responsible for our actions and we cannot do any damage or harm to God through them.
And Allah knows best.
Peace and Blessings,
Imam Salim

salam alaikum brother...!!
yes.... to struggle in the way of Allah is duty upon every Muslim....
but because of Media..... Majority .. even our own Muslim brothers.. are not aware by the exact meaning of Jihad.. ..
they think Jihaad means.. to kill kafir(non Muslims)....
The Arabic word "jihad" is a noun. Its singular past tense verb is "jahada" (masculine) or "jahadat" (feminine). The singular active participle of "jihad" is "mujahid" (masculine) or "mujahida"(feminine). The root of the word "jihad" is "juhd" which means "effort." Another related word is "ijtihad"which means "working hard or diligently."
yes.. Jihaad Means .. to struggle....
Struggle to call people towards Islam.. not by putting gun on their head.. but by the most beautiful way
According to Qur'an
chapter 16: 125
Sahih International: "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided".
and by calling others to know.. the religion of Abraham P.b.u.h..
i.e.
chapter 3 : 64
Yusuf Ali: Say: "O People of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to Allah's Will).
Ofcourse I would not like to be replaced.. by the khaseereeen..!!
take care..
JazakAllah

Yes this verse deals with the Muslims who did not fight back when they were attacked by pagans of Mecca.
Notice it says: O you who believe! what is the matter with you, that when you are asked to march forth
this means that they were asked to get up and defend their faith.

The verses are part of a bigger story. Read the previous verses. The verses are about some Muslims that were reluctant to fight when they were under attack by pagan Meccans.

That verse talks about fighting when you are being attacked.
See verse 9:36
Might also refer to the hypocrites who did not fight in the battle of Uhud

We must know that the intention of going in the path of Allah is to raise the word of Allah (اعÙاء ÙÙÙ
Ø©ÙÙÙ). First of all in ourselves and then the rest. That was for what Prophet (PBUH) strived for. That was for what Sahaba (R.A) traveled to distant lands and strived for. Prophet Abraham left his home and family for Allah's sake. To Proclaim and spread the Deen of Allah. Qital or fight is only the last option if someone really hinder the spread of the message of Islam and not a first thing. Are we not able to convey the message of Islam and travel for this sake. But wealth, family, money etc. are dearer to us than striving for Islam. According to Hadith, A student who travels to distance for seeking knowledge is in the path of Allah till he returns. So there are within Muslim community who are striving their best to spread the message of Islam. Tabligh Jamaat is one of them who literally asks people to go in the path of Allah like the Sahaba (R.A) did. Many others also travel and give efforts for Deen like Zakir Naik (There may be plus and minus in some group according to some other. Here I am saying those who strive for the sake of Allah and I appreciate the good in all who call to Allah and His messenger). We must give our wealth and time (our self) to Allah's Deen and for Jihad (Striving in the path of Allah). It is each one of us responsibility to lean, practice and convey the message of Islam. For this must be our striving. Da-wa is the responsibility of all of us.
Edit: Allah is replacing the sleeping muslims by those who are riverts to Islam. Just see Yusuf Estes, Bilal Philips, A.Raheem Green, Khalid Yaseen etc etc. and thousands of westerners and others who are active in preaching the message of Islam were Christians once upon a time. Allah is bringing others to remind us of our duty. Our ancestors did once travel to far lands and corners of the world for the sake of Allah's Deen and gaining knowledge. They loved this Deen and those who carried Deen in them. We got it for free so we became less tolerant and took this for argument with others.
At some places and times we are getting small beatings in order for us to wake up from this sleep. A loving father will correct the mistakes of a son whom he loves. Perhaps by beating whenever necessary. For the hopeless son who is totally astray and will never turn back is left as it is. Allah is Merciful upon us. He loves the Ummath of His Habeeb (PBUH). He wants us to carry the work for which all Messengers of Allah came and strived upon. That is striving for the raise of His word (Thawheed) (ÙÙÙ
Ø© اÙÙÙ Ù٠اÙعÙÙا) and to be His Party to call towards Him alone. But also when Goliath attacks us, be a David (PBUH) and don't be a coward and don’t be a Goliath to attack on innocents. Striving (Jihad) for Deen is the most important thing and a continues process which no Muslim should stop.
