I have no trouble going to sleep, my problem is if I wake in the night I get songs/advertising themes or work into my mind and can't go back to sleep!
Anyway, ignore those advising sleeping pills or Jack Daniels .. there is a difference between "sleep" and "passed out" .. you want to sleep and wake in the morning feeling ready to go for a new day. Since you mentioned school, I assume you are stressed out by that coming up. A lavender bath, a glass of white wine (1only!), some incense, a candle ... do any or all of things such as this that gives your mind an opportunity to just flow freely. Meditation, soft sounds, etc. I know its easier said than done, but try to accept that there is nothing you can about things to come so you can't worry yourself over what hasn't happened yet. Sleep is one of the best things you can do to prepare for what comes ahead. Once you are calmed, go to bed and recite a postive mantra in your head over and over (like counting sheep) ... I am happy, I am healthy, I am wealthy, I am wise ... say it in your mind over and over ... then sleep in peace and you will wake with those attitudes to guide your day.
Bless you and good luck

Try to stay awake. It will help you go asleep. (Really.)
Read a book that you really enjoy before you go asleep (not one that will give you nightmares though.)
Get some exercise during the day so you are tired.
Don't study or read anything difficult last thing at night. It will stimulate your mind and keep you awake.
Get up earlier than usual and use the time to do some extra study.
Ignore the advice above to use sleeping drugs or alcohol. It could get you into a serious dependency situation which is the last thing you need.

A bath with lavender, then read a little bit of a book and that should help. You could try soothing smells of insense.
The main reason people cant sleep is because they are agitated or concentrating to much, try things that are calming or empty your head (if that makes sense!)
Hope this helps.

Tire yourself out during the day so when the night comes, all you would want to do is sleep. Also, a warm glass of milk can help you sleep. :D

Whichever ways u use will be of NO use until u know what is the underlining issues ... stress, boredom, caffeine intake, noise, heart-broken......It's all in the mind, dear!!! For short term recipe, normally I would read a book and do read something u like to relax the mind.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making
small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information
at http://nosleep.in/howtogetsleep.html
