I think God should be pocket sized, and light enough to carry around all day without discomfort.

Belief in a personal God is uniquely Christian. Perhaps it is because Christians believe God took the form of a human being and lived among us as Jesus. It is thus easier to relate to God through His Son.
In the 18th century, around the time of the French Revolution, philosophers believed God was a distant, abstract force that set the universe in motion and then sat back and watched, so to speak. This belief was called Deism.
The God of Judaism seems to be more impersonal in the sense that He is the god of an entire people, not individuals, though He manifested Himself to various persons mentioned in the Old Testament. Also, it is forbidden to represent God in physical form, or even to speak His name. Some Jews write G-d instead of God. Some call Him "Ha-Shem", which means The Name. Only non-Jews use the term Yahweh or Jehovah to pronounce the four letters of God's name, which means "I am who (or what) I am", or "I am who am".

why do u believe in a personal friend?
wud u rather God be impersonal, removed from ur day to day affair, uninterested in what happens to u. etc I guess that's what the abortion, illegitimate children and abandoned children are all abt. people hv become selfish and now they want to fashion their GOD after themselves. selfish, preoccupied. self absorbed, hard hearted ( i cud go on). why do u not want God to be loving, caring and desiring that you hv the best here and in afterlife on earth.
its not why people believe in a personal God as though they have decided to believe in a personal God but since God is a God who is in relationship with us we believe in Him. we just are thankful he is a personal God very much involved in our wellbeing.

God is not personal God but God of the whole mankind but you refuse to worship and b elieve Him because of the satan that is deceiving your belief . . You were not taught by your parents on the right way of life but they have taught you on the wrong way which is darkness.

You know, first of all, you have to get out of your tiny little box, your room with TV, games and such, and do some deep thinking. I remember as a child going one Easter at a church. They were showing the Easter play, but it was a movie, like the one we have now, "The Passion of Christ". I remember seeing the crucification, and it stayed with me. My mother took me, and I am so glad that she loved me so much that she took me to church. I put it aside for a long time, during the teenage years, but when things were not going so good in my life, I realized that I needed God in my life. later, when I came down with breast cancer, I was so scared, and I prayed to God to help me through it. I was scared to die, but i literally ran away, I went to New Mexico to live. I remember seeing the sunsets, and thought how beautiful, and the clouds seems like angels, the sunset was like Heaven, and I put aside all the wants of material things, and making money working every day,and I wanted nothing but to fly into the beautiful clouds, I felt a closeness with God. I remembered the suffering that Christ went through, and I wept that He suffered so much and was nailed to a cross for our sins. When I had a heart blockage, I told my husband, I hope I do not die today, but it was not my time. I was with my mother when she died, and I wept, but I knew that she was going to heaven. I released her to God. I now am not afraid of dying, and I know that God is with me. I feel the Holy Spirit and I cannot do anything but reach out to those in need. I see evil in people where I could not see it before, I see things thata are destroying their lives, and I feel sorry for them - they cannot and will never have the special force with you, the angels protecting you,and when the time comes for me to go, I will be looking into His eyes, and say, thank you, for your suffering, and I am finally home where I belong. I hope that has helped you, but it is my story, and you have to find your own, if you will only let it happen.

Personification of God is due to human weakness that he needs an object..an object to love, an object to hate, an object to worship. I feel there is nothing wrong about it.

Because when I was searching for something, someone helped me. And it was personal, it was like they were always there, waiting and watching. Like something is going on that we are just not capable of understanding. Yet anyways.
