Yes, all major camera makers provide international warranty. And set up their service centers in major cities all around the world. Do remember to ask for the warranty card that also provide indication of serial number of the equipment. Do check the company's website to ensure they have a service center in the country of your residence.

Beware of some sellers who will ask for an additional cost for the warranty card. As all genuine, new cameras come with the manufacturer warranty.

From personal experience warranties within the same country are hard - "international" warranties are even nastier. You do not want to send anything that valuable through international mail, because unfortunately customs officials are not carefully watched overseas and you might never see your camera again.

My suggestion: Do not validate the warranty until you are back in your country of residence and that way you might be able to get a local dealer. Maybe.

Good luck! Try not to break anything in the first place. : )

Don't bother - it's a false economy.

If you buy a camera, or any other electrical or mechanical item in the U.K. and it fails, the manufacturers representative in the U.K. (i.e. the shop where you bought it) is obliged to offer you repair, refund or replacement. This is under the 1982 Sale of Goods Act (which ONLY applies to goods purchased in the U.K.)

If you buy from outside Europe, they have no such obligation - they may help, but they don't have to. You will almost certainly have to return it to the country from where you bought it.

Many people buy electronics, etc., abroad thinking they've got a bargain - until it breaks...
