Most modern bibles have removed forgery verses that made it into the older bibles. That is verses that were written after the original writer lived.

keiichi is *basically* correct. These are verses that we know have been added to the gospels long after they were recognized (by the early church "fathers") as finished. Now that archaeologists have discovered earlier manuscripts, we can say with certainty that these verses were added *after* several copies of these books had already been made. Another addition (one which bible translators are loathe to "footnote") is the entire story of the adulteress and "let him without sin cast the first stone". This entire story is a verified post-Johanine addition to John.

Almost all modern versions (after 1980) of the bible footnote these "added" verses. The NIV is hardly alone in this. I wonder - how many have you found that do *not*? I have personally read at least 5 versions, and only the King James and Oxford Revision King James do not.

If there is any particular verse that you want to know details for why it was removed, e-mail me. I will *not* research them all, but a couple will not tax my time excessively.

this is one great example of those who hate bible believing christains. you seach all day to deny which ur heart tells u is true.

i hv been using NIV bible among others for the last 20years. the verses u hv mentioned are given as footnotes. there are various scholarly reasons for it. one is that when examining old manuscripts certain doubtful words, phrase, spellings, handwriting, style of writing etc added as footnotes rather than in the body of the text. serious students of the bible use various study suppliments to help their studies.

the imp point is none of these footnote exclusions or inclusions would in any way effect the salvation of a soul. the most imp theme we need from the bible is what does God require of us. that is clearly written : repent of ur sins, believe Jesus is God and died for ur sins and thru belief in his resurrection and mediation u can save ur soul from eternal fire.

and for your kind info Jehowah witnesses are not christians so what ever book they use is irrelevant.

A very good argument for owning, and studying, different translations.
