I was raised in a staunchly Catholic household, but I never felt that it was dumb. I enjoyed going to church as a kid, and was very interested in religion. I have many fond memories of my religious upbringing. However, if I had felt that it were truly dumb or pointless, I wouldn't perpetuate it for another generation.

Well, how do you truly know it's a "dumb religion"? I mean, religion itself as it's practiced in these times, is simply not for me. The trick is to look past all the ceremony and ritual and get down to what the doctrine is. Then you decide if it's for you or not. Stop using the "religious" aspect of whatever it is that your parents believe or follow. Are you a kid?

religion is the last thing in my agenda. instead of spending time on this subject, i would use that time for other useful things. i wonder, what advantage people get in discussing about religion which often gave scope for fighting between religious memebers. i have not seen till now, discussion on religion has given any benefit!

If you are not saved by grace, how would you know anything about religion...How do you know that the religion is dumb if you do not know anything about it and are you the judge if it is dumb or not? And if you know nothing about it, how can you pass on that which you know nothing about. Maybe the only thing dumb was your judgment of something you know nothing about.

your parents cant "give" you a religion.. they can choose one for you... but its up to the person to choose whether or not they want to follow it. Remember we do have free will. Plus.. i try to not have a religion.. but instead a faith.. and a relationship with God. And that i would try to teach to my children.. and if they don't want it.. there's nothing i can do about it. I leave it in Gods hands.
