yes as the subject is telling you how should I encourage my 1½ year old daughter to eat by herself? She has started daycare and the teachers in the daycare won't spoonfeed her or give her food in her mouth. I think thats very good that they don't. It's me who have spoiled her by giving all the food myself rather then letting her try. Now she don't pick anything from her plate to eat. Or she do pick it but it don't go in her mouth..she will just play with it or throw it!
She is in daycare from 8:30 in the morning til 3:30 pm and the only thing she have for the whole day is the breakfast at 7:30 or 8:00 which I feed her:( Then I feed her again when she come home from the daycare!
Please help I feel like a very bad mom! =(

Put the food in front of her, if she's hungry enough she'll figure it out.

I can't believe the daycare isn't more persistent with getting her to eat. Poor thing must be starving.

Well, all I can suggest it to just keep trying. Show her how by you doing it first then place the spoon in her hand. Honestly though at this age they're not too adept at spoon use yet. Most won't make it into her mouth anyway. Show her how to use her fingers to put the food in her mouth. She's in a bad habit and it's just going to take a little time to break it. Maybe too have finger foods already in her bag so the daycare workers can give her easy to use foods during the day. Crackers, cereal, cut up bananas or other fruit, etc.

k firstly u have got to be a lil tough dear.. for ur kids sake..by now u must be knowing which food she "really" likes..so just place her fav food in front of her and u also take something to eat.. and sit in front of her at her eye level and eat (try this at 4.00 P.M after she's back and hungry..) u can help her a lil in the beginning just to teach her say for 1/2 days.. but after tht just let go off her n let her eat on her own..while u eat ur own food 'with' her..also wen u eat make a face as if the food is really good..
encourage her n u be tough at the same time.. she'll def eat on her own if shes hungry..take care n all the best!! :)

When you are at home you have to play with her and teach her in a playful sort of way how to eat by like doing hear comes the airlane or going "That tasated good" Why donm't you hold her hand whilst you are feeding her and put the spoon in her hand and scoop the food up whilst holding her hand she will learn that way.

basically supply her the candy potatoes and eco-friendly beans and different nutrition in products she will %. up with right here arms and commence coaching her the thank you to apply a spoon. Meat is the main important difficulty to stumble on in finger ingredients yet issues like comfortable finely floor meat balls and fish tarts she would desire to in all hazard handle ok. My daughter hated to have somebody feed her from an extremely youthful age, she even had to hold her very own bottle, so I basically placed the nutrition in front of her and enable her make a large number.

I wish i was there with her. I would teach her in a kindly way. Heres what to do. prepare the food, give her a plate and you take a plate. Face her. and make her hold the spoon like you do.and show her how to hold the spoon. just hold her hand. but make it fun for her. Make her laugh. ( do not say heres come the plane, this things only happened in t.v.) Make her imitate you that can be really fun. And every time she did it. Say something good to her, like good girl, big girl. sorry I'm not good with explanation but if i was there with her, i would teach her. i love little kids.
