I basically travel very quickly. I already booked an airplane for a full day in Krabi because the rocky areas was the most scenic that I could figure so far.

Now! I want to book a second trip 5 days earlier in the second best scenic area. Swimming isn't the most important. I want to enjoy and take pictures of the area.

Should I spend a full day in Surat Thani, Phuket, Hat Yai, Trang or Nakhon Si Thammarat or another? (I will be there in Nov., I am from Canada).

Forget about Phuket. The natural beauty has been spoiled by hordes of tourists and aggressive property development.

Hat Yai (Songkhla Province) is a center for traders and sex tourists from Malaysia and Singapore.

If you want to experience beatiful islands, mangrove forests, and friendly people, check out info on Trang and Satun.

Surat Thani has the stunning Khao Sok National Park, which I highly recommend.

Rayong was recommended above me, but it is on the eastern seabord and not in the Thai South. On the Thai eastern seaboard, the most beautiful scenery is found in Chantaburi and Trat. I should know since I've been fortunate to travel a lot in Thailand and have visited over 65 provinces thus far.

I'm so jealous! I'm from Bankok, Thailand and miss home terribly.

Phuket, although a nice area is really dirty in comparison to other "beachy" areas. Surat Thani is nice. Or try the Rayong province...it's not a very "touristy" area, clean and you have a chance to visit the national park of thailand. Beautiful area, and not "tourist ruined"

Pattaya is nice, but again it;s very much like Phuket as far as atmosphere...crowded and incredibly tourist based. Pattaya and Phuket are going to be the two most expensive beach destinations in Thailand, b/c of how popular it is.

Kho Samoui is a beautiful place...look into it, not too crowded, fairly inexpensive.

If you get a chance to go to Northern thailand, try Changmai or Khon Khan, the people there are so down to earth and the scenary is breath taking.

have fun

you may desire to bypass to Koh Lipe. it incredibly is without doubt one in all of the main prestine in all of Thailand. you are able to take a ferry from a province stated as Satun. So, you may desire to get to the pier (forgot the call) and then hop on the ferry. I heard the water is obvious. There are 2 or 3 diverse islands in the area as properly. They close those islands for some months in the year. Google it to get greater data. have exciting!

from krabi town, you can go to railay beach by longtail boat. less than an hour each way. Nice cliffs in railay, lots of rock climbing. phi phi island (Lived there 6 months), and koh lanta are nice. ferry boats can get you to those. the rock formations of phi phi don and phi phi leh are great. good diving in phi phi. lots people like going to where "the beach" was filmed on phi phi leh. saw it every day from my dive boat. looked ok. samui is ok if you stay out of the larger towns like chaweng, same can be said in koh phangan if you stay away from hadrin beach. chaweng and hadrin have the nightlife. so, of course i went there. stay away from hat yai and suratthani. just regular boring cities. there's just too much to list to put on here.
