I guess it is a matter of perspective. I choose nursing as my career in the medical profession. I loved it! I say "loved" because I am now retired. I worked many specialties but mostly E.R. Once I discovered it was my true love, it was where I stayed.

If you think it sucks, then you are not cut out for the profession. It is a selfless profession that requires loving what you are doing. You have to have compassion, empathy, the ability to listen, a keen sense of when things don't seem right, an attention to detail, a good power of observation, and so much more.

If you are not happy with your choice, it is never too late to learn a new career. Instead of sticking with something you think was your worst decision, make up your mind to do something about it. Find out what you really want to do and pursue it. You are not doing your patients any favors by working at a job you hate...particularly a job that requires that you truly care about people. Good luck with your future endeavors.
