First things first, Canadians are backwards? To who? You?
Vancouver is just a small part of Canada & by no means all of Canada. If you have such a problem with the entertainment in Canada, simple, go somewhere else. Now if Canada built some attractions like you mention, that would probably take away from the heritage of this great country. I can and will extend this wish to you, if you don't like Canada for what it is,
DON'T COME BACK. I'm American living in Canada. By the way, if your weren't so cheap you would have came east before you insulted the whole country to see the more of Canada. Does your mommy know your playing with her computer again?

Canada has the population about equal to California. And that population is spread out over an area that is several times larger than California.
The answer to your question is very simply demand. There is not enough people in Canada that would purchase entry into such things to make them feasible.
But your question is way off base. Why would you take your entertainment value in Vancouver, a single city, and say it doesn't compare to that of ALL the USA. Try comparing Vancouver to Portland or Seattle and you might find they are very similar.

Canadians prefer the great outdoors and making their own fun.
The PNE and it's Toronto sister the CNE are fairs - they are not 'amusement parks'. We prefer to shoot rapids, and bungee jump from bridges, climb mountains and have snowball fights in July.
If you must have be entertained!!!! then try 'Canada's Wonderland' just north of Toronto.

You have to realize that Canada is 1/10 the population of the US.
They don't have the populous to build mega entertainment complexes.

clarify what you propose. I easily have spent substantial time in the two Europe and Canada and don't see u.s. in the back of. If something, the standard of living in Europe and Canada lag in the back of the U. S..

The quebecers who probably will become a country at some point have done well to provide high quality entertainment.
I think it is because they are a minority and must provide there own entertainment and stuff like that or risk being inveloped by english.
On the other hand anglo canadians don't need to make high quality entertainment when they have a same language neighbour making stuff bettter then they can ever make.
Why make your own entertainment when your neighbour can do all the work and better work at that then y ou?
the consequence of american culture in canada is that english canadians dont really have a culture of there own. they are americans now for better or worse.
I live in canada and i call them watered down americans with out the pazaz.
by the way im neither american or canadian.

We don't need someone to entertain us. We aren't that mindless.
As someone else mentioned we'd prefer being in the great outdoors, climbing mountains, hiking, camping, etc. I sure as all get out don't need a Disneyland in my backyard!
