"One Australian woman is convicted of importing a bag of "Grass" = 20years jail."
Importing 4.5kilograms of hydroponic dope into Australia would get you 10-15 years in gaol. It would be the same in most countries. With that quantity, she was lucky she didn't get the death penalty in Indonesia.
" Nine Australians attempt to export 1 or 2 kilos of heroin...= death penalty. "
They knew the risks and the penalties involved. Indonesia has not executed any Australians for drug smuggling. Malaysia has hanged three and Singapore one. There is also an Australian awaiting death for drugs in Vietnam. Why are you picking on Indonesia when there are other countries that do exactly the same thing?
I do not agree with the death penalty nor excessive punishment for drug offences but if those are the laws in other countries you break them at your peril. All travellers in those countries are warned loudly and clearly of the penalties for carrying drugs.

Never been. Not really interested.
However, it's close, it's cheap, the surfing in incredible and people love it.
Also, name me one country that doesn't have problems with corruption and human rights issues.
And I'm not sure why you would consider the Indonesians actually keeping to their drug laws as a reason not to visit. I see the people who continue to try to bring drugs into a country where there are massive signs hanging up that drug importing incurs the death penalty as the "global joke". How can THEY call themselves Aussie. And it's "an Aussie" not "a Aussie"
I can call myself an Aussie because I have freedom of choice to holiday wherever I please, without having to answer to anyone.

"country is so corrupt, legal system is a global joke, abuse human rights"? And so is half of eastern Europe, Africa and south east Asia, and south America. And what about China? Human right abuses? The USA - human right abuses and corrupt government excepting bribes and covert operations overseas.... Yet everybody else still travel to these countries.
Let the man with no sin cast the first stone, mate!
Bali is a beautiful place. Us Aussies love it there. Balinese tourism has nothing to do with the Indonesian government.

Every country has the same issues. Some are better at hiding them than others!
Though the bombings were a tragic incident. Its good to hear the Aussies haven't changed their mindset about the country!

Yep, its only India, Australia, Sri Lanka and England. There was a time when there was a lot of trolls from Bangladesh but they have probably improved. Most of the low level avatars you'll find here are from Bangladesh. There was a NZ user but now he has probably left. We have a couple of Pakistani users too. I guess only SA & WI are the ones to miss out from the test playing nations. Regards.

Get it right mate, it's not Aussie, it's OZZIE, okay? Not that I've ever been there mate, but I'm told by reliable resources that the chocolate starfish hunting there is top notch. What more could a fair dinkum aussie bloke (or blokette for that matter) want mate. A cold can of beer in one hand and a fresh chocolate starfish spread out on the table in frount of you mate, yummy or what, hey?
