I am an EU citizen, and I would like to become a citizen...I heard that if you join the army they give you a greencard...is that true, or is it a myth?

NO. You must have the green card (permanent resident status) already in order to enlist. Please do not confuse your question with expedited U.S. citizenship, which IS given to our service members who are immigrants and have served in the armed forces.

As of 12-26-06 no. Here is an article with information:

While in Japan I met a few sailors from Philippines who joined while we still had a base there.

You can ask your question to the army at the site below.

your question is a bit confusing. but if you're asking that by joining the USAF NAVY or ARMY will you automatically be entitled a greencard for the U.S.? The answer is NO! The only way you can join these is to have permanent residence in the U.S. or be a U.S. Citizen either by birth or thru naturalization.

If you have a resident visa and you join the US Armed forces for at least 3 years, I think, you do get automatic citizenship. But a greencard is for resident aliens, not citizens. So your question was a bit misworded.

No.

Only US citizens and green card holders are allowed to enlist in the US military.
