Ideally you should be able to lose 30 pounds in 5-6 months, 5 lbs each month which is a healthy rate , if you ask me. You can do this by proper diet and regular exercise. Consistency is the key. Just don't focus on losing 30 pounds, instead think of a smaller goal that is 'to lose 5 pounds a month'. You'll be 30 pounds lighter in no time if you just get your focus off the big number and take it 5 pounds at a time. My advice would be drinking 3-5 cups of green tea along with your diet and exercise plan, until you lose it all. I say this from personal experience.
Oh and please don't mind these junkheads above me, they're just bored with their lives.

Everyones bodies are different but a year is definitely an achievable goal! Drink lots and lots of water. thats what i have been doing!! Good luck!

Two pounds a week is about the best one can expect. But you have to stick to the program. Keep yourself motivated by taking a diuretic (herbal), as long as you don't have any other health problems (kidney, pancreas, bladder, etc.). This will keep off excess bloating which, especially for women, makes it appear to have huge daily gains and losses in weight. You want a consistent record of your actual weight, daily. You may additionally find it helpful to eat according to your blood type.

Eat less carbs and less sugar concentrated products (preferably none at all), quit the sugar in coffee and tea, drink 5 glasses of water every day, exersize everyday......and you wouldnt need to starve yourself but you'd still be able to slim down.
It would take a while though, probably a year, but its the healthier way and the weight would stay off. so goodluck, and yes it works, I have a cousin who laid off sugar and carbs and lost 8 kilos in 5 months;-))))
