Fungus is a synonym for mushroom, although many fungi would not be commonly called mushrooms because they have only tiny fruiting bodies. There are thousands of species of fungi.
If you mean what is the proper name of the cultivated mushroom that is most commonly consumed by people then that is Agaricus bisporus.
The word toadstool is usually only used for poisonous species.
