My husband got his first check after about 8 weeks. It had all his back pay, including BAH,BAS, family separation etc. (Separation pay starts after 31 days so he won't get it for the first month) By the way if you don't know what BAH he's entitled to look in the money section on ArmyTimes.com. It will be for the area you are currently living in. Also BAH and BAS shouldn't be taxed so make sure you check that. He had his taxed at first and we had to get it straightened out (but they paid him what had been taken out for taxes)
By the way...ignore the ones on here who act like you are just interested in the money. It's part of your job to make sure he gets paid because he can't really check on it himself.

He will get a 'casual pay' or some token amount of cash very soon upon reporting to basic. just enough so he can buy soap, razors, that kind of stuff.
DFAS (Defense Finance and Accounting Service) has gotten way better in the last few years. If your husband signs up for 2 paydays a month (he has a choice of 1 or 2) then you *might* get a Sep 15 paycheck. But certainly by 1 October (the end of month pay is deposited on the 1st of the next month).
If you DONT get the end of month pay then your husband should certainly get his chain of command involved to help fix it. Not a problem to ask -- it is what leaders DO for thier Soldiers.
If you have trouble making ends meet until then, there are a lot of resources available --- he can get an bigger casual pay, Army Community Services can help, lots of other things.
Check out Army One Source -- a great source of official answers and help that is (gasp) actually user-friendly!!

expect 6-8 weeks before the first paycheck arrives. ALSO don't count on it being very large at all. many times BAH hasn't kicked in yet. Family Sep will not have kicked in yet and all the items he had to purchase when he got there will have been taken out of his first paycheck.
Don't expect anything before September 15 at the absolute EARLIEST.. and that's if everything got entered in immediately. Plan on October 1st.

Unless the rules have changed, the Army pays you once a month.

Didn't you ask this same question a few days ago? Hold on...going to go check; I swear I remember answering you before.
Yup; you did. You should refer back to your first question.
