okay well i just got to college about a week ago. theres this girl a few doors down from my dorm and she seemed really nice in the beginning but shes just so annoying now. she always comes in my room and wants to hang out and has this annoying voice and always talks about herself constantly and her boyfriend back home, and she's kind of controlling, like she loves telling me what to do. shes a sophomore and im a freshman, and even though i dont know the campus as well as her, ya know, shes telling me that i wont like my mac n cheese before i eat it, so i should get pizza with her but i said no, and shes like, 'fine, dont listen to me' under her breath. and i dont know what to do to get rid of her! because i met other cool kids on campus and we've all been hanging out plus her... and shes driving me CRAZY. now shes nice and everything so i feel bad. i dunno what to do, should i tough it out or talk to one of my new friends in our group about it?

you know there is a way to get out of it without being a wimp and asking her to back off or being a jerk and telling her to stay the fu@# away. You could ask her to come over and then put her in an awkward situation...(yeah, what you think). You said she had a boyfriend so she should turn you down and she will think you are interested and stay away some. or, maybe you will get some...(score), but that could backfire. If she does go for it, things could become even worse...

Do her a favor.
Tell her that her controlling ways are making it difficult for you to feel like a friend. People who need to boss others around are not trying to be your friend. If you tell her gently and she bugs out and stops being your friend then you didn't need her in your life in the first place. If she can't listen to you and be a better friend then she is not someone you want in your life. Maybe she will take what you say to heart and stop being annoying.
People CAN change!!!

I think you should talk to her. Tell her, "I think you're a nice person, but I feel that you're controlling. Also, you only talk about yourself. I'm telling you this because if you can change, we can be friends, and also because I think that if you can hear what I'm saying, this will help you with other friends, too." Then, she'll either change or go away, and either result will help you.

yea women who have crushes do stupid things, Either that or she just misses home. and is lacking in attention. So i would just tell her to basically butt out, tell her straight out how u feel, she will get over it... and if she doesnt then she is a real nut case and u should report her. Im pretty sure they have locks on the doors, so use it! soon enough she will get the hint...

Say (nicely), "Ashley, I have really appreciated your friendship since school started. Thanks for helping me get oriented. I still want us to be friendly (do not say 'friends'), but I'm sort of wanting to strike out on my own a little more. So I won't be hanging out with you as much for the rest of the year. We'll get together once in awhile, still, tho' if that's ok with you." Then excuse yourself and go to your next appointment/class or whatever.

That's what it means to be an adult: being assertive, and owning it.

why the hell would you "tough it out"? you're in college. you're an adult. this isn't high school where you have to pretend to like everyone. next time she knocks on your door...DON'T OPEN IT. it's that simple. she sounds very rude, and I don't even know why you've put up with her for this long.

Sounds like she has a crush on you. You'll have to tell her you're not interested.
