for the people who have said something along the lines of" other people are doing it, so that must mean that's the reason you want to do it" i'm in a sport that technically would be better off with wearing one, i don't want one cuz other ppl are wearing one, i want one cuz most of my pants are tight and i have panty lines most of the time and i should have one for my sport. and i do have boycut "panties" i've been wearing boycut since 6th grade. and my parents think is un-apropriate cuz they think it's usually associated with sexual things. orchidglow, thanks for being the least harsh about it, everyone is really mean about it...:(

I got my first thong when I was 13. My mom didn't like it because I think most people associate them with sexual things. But I explained to her the pantyline thing and she said it was ok as long as I don't get really high ones that are constant showing. Just explain your reason behind getting one and tell your mom you will buy modest, regular ones. No zippers, buttons, beads... Best of luck!

Well girl, I would hafta agree with most of these ppl with sayin you are too young. I hope you understand that to your parents, by you wearin a thong, it may mean you are ready, or having sex, or that guys will take it that way and that scares them. Therefore, you do need to respect their wishes as long as you are living with them...however, here is some pointers. I would first wait the sensation out for a couple of months, cause more likely you maybe onto other things. If not, then start out slow with shoppin for boycut panties and in different fabric. Once/if your parents become comfortable with that, then move into full fabric thongs, not just the strings:P Just be sure to be straight with your parents and respect their opinions. Also, I do find that thongs do tend to be more comfortable cause they don't rise or bunce in jeans and are better to wear for cheerleading. I was NOT a slut in high school, but did find them more convenient in certain clothing. I hope all works out:)

M&M,
My question to you is why do you want to wear one? When I was 13, my parents never wanted to hear anything about what "everyone else did", and you know what? They were right. You will see that just because a lot of people do a certain thing doesn't make it right. Usually the majority is wrong. Look at the # of people that make the honor roll. They are not the majority, but they are serious about their schoolwork.
Now, about the issue at hand, I would have to say I agree with your parents. Even though it seems like everyone is wearing them, they are not appropriate for young girls. There are adults that do not wear them. Don't let the media make you feel that you have to have them. You want to make sure that you make a positive representation of yourself at all times. Your parents love you and are just trying to protect you. I remember when I was younger and my parents (especially my mom) wouldn't let me wear certain clothing to school. Even though everyone else was wearing it. I thought it unfair at the time, but you know, now that I am an adult, I see that they were right.
Those 10 people may not have loving parents like you do. Just try to see their point of view.
hang in there! Everything will be alright.

surely not. Is it ok for a 14-17 year previous female to positioned on a thong to the sea coast? NO. If he's eighteen or 19, it incredibly is as much as the discretion of the sea coast on no count if or not it incredibly is acceptable...yet i in my view do not opt to bypass everywhere the place thongs are ok for adult adult males or females! finally, i think of your son could desire to be gay. you may desire to probable have a communication with him approximately popping out- and be supportive! in case you enable him bypass out to the sea coast wearing a thong, there's a severe possibility he would be overwhelmed up and a minimum of, teased. He should not be picked on for being gay, yet do you certainly need to take the prospect that somebody will persist with him and harm him bodily?

Listen to your parents. For the 'at least 10 people" who have been wearing them I can assure you that there are simply millions and millions of people who are not wearing them. Next week or next month you will find something else that you simply have to do because everyone else is doing it. Such is life - one week the must have is "butt floss" the next week its something else, none of which you will remember once you get older - until of course you have a daughter who comes to you with exactly the same "desperate/I want that, Mom, because my friends all have them" idea!

Im 15. And i wear thongs.
I don't agree that your too young to wear one.
I think you should be able to.
But don't wear them just becuase you know other people that have them.
And if your parents don't think its okay, then try talking more to them about it. Don't go with the "i know at least 10 other people" excuse becuase they will just say that your not one of them or something along those lines.

I'm just wondering why your parents care what you wear underneath your pants. A thong doesn't make you a slut some people like wearing them I don't know why but they do.

Just because 10 girls dress like sluts, is not a good reason for you to dress like one! And how tight are your pants that you need a thong!

It's really not appropriate for you. Your only 13. They are not supposed to be meant for girls your age. Their made for adults. That are married. Not girls who want to be sexy and more of an adult than they should be. I agree with the parents for once.
