Its kind of and odd question:

It's hard to tell because the glasses are way down on her nose and the picture is kind of dark. I think they are real glasses, but they are not very strong. It is easier to tell when the person is wearing them where they belong. If the person's eyes look very small, there are a lot of reflections at the edges of the lenses (when looking at an angle), If the front surface of the lenses are flat, or if you can see a big discontinuity along the edge of their face where the lenses are, then they they are strong glasses. (In her case, because of the angle we're looking at, the edge of her face crosses right at the middle of the lens, so you won't see the discontinuity) She is a very pretty lady; she looks great with glasses, if she is somebody you're trying to date, I wouldn't cross her off your list just because she wears glasses.

As for whether she short or long sighted; I'm guessing she is short sighted, its the more common problem for younger persons.

Firstly if she needed glasses that thick she would not be wearing them on her nose. Secondly there is no possible way to tell from simply looking at lenses as to whether they are for long or short sight. The only way to tel is to find out the script, axis and cylinder, this is achieved by putting the lens under a special microscope which can detect the angle the lense is cut on. Thick glasses can infact mean either.
