Yes.
The Romanians do have some cultural connections to the Slavic nations and to the Eastern (Greek) Orthodox Church. You see this especially in things like their egg painting and egg breaking ceremonies at Easter.
However, in spite of this, most Romanians I've met remind me an awful lot of Italians, Spaniards and even South Americans, especially Argentines.
Despite some Greek, Slavic, Hungarian and "Balkan" loanwords in the Romanian language, 80% of its most commonly used words are still of Latin origin. Because of its isolation, Romanian has actually preserved some archaic Latin and Ciceronian Latin words that have long since disappeared in the Western Romance languages.
For example, Romanian 'a tinge' which means "to touch" is a direct descendant of the Classical Latin word for this action, attingere. On the other hand , the Western Romance languages all have words like tocar, toccare and toucher which come from a Vulgar Latin word of Celtic origin. Compare Irish tochais "to scratch."

While Romanian has Slavic connections due to the region it is in, it is considered a Romance language because it is a descendent of Latin.
I can't answer if people from Romania are "Latin," but the language is.

Nowadays, romanian can be called a romance language because of the massive loan of words and grammatics of latin origin from french or italian, that replaced a lot of old autochtonus romanian words that were used till then. But the romanian culture, the traditions and the most part of the people (blood) are autochtonus (of dacian origin). ;)

I think we can be,because of 1 counselor of the Pope Paul the second name Miceal Ledwith that have acces to secret Vatican documents said that actually,LATIN IS DERIVED FROM OLD ROMAINIAN (so Latin is a ROMANIAN language) and NOT vice-versa as you can see him here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfDfq0w-G34 saying that on a national tv here in Romania.

Their language is a Romance language (meaning derived from Latin), but their culture, heritage, etc., is different. They are not Latin, in the same way that the Spanish are not Latin. The Spanish speaking part of the Americas is called Latin America, but that is a strange historical relic of the French attempt to install a French monarch in Mexico.
From wikipedia:
Originally a political term, Amérique latine was coined by French emperor Napoleon III, who cited Amérique latine and Indochine as goals for expansion during his reign. While the term helped him stake a claim to those territories, it eventually came to embody those parts of the Americas that speak Romance languages initially brought by settlers from Spain, Portugal and, to a minor extent, France in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. An alternate etymology points to Michel Chevalier, who mentioned the term in 1836.[1]
In the United States, the term was not used until the 1890s, and did not become a common descriptor of the region until early in the twentieth century. Before then, Spanish America was more commonly used.[

In a word "no". All the wishful thinking in the world ain't going to make it so. I am not sure that Italians are classified as Latins, funnily enough. I think the term has been usurped by the Americans to refer to the Spanish speakers of central America, Mexico and the Islands like Peurto Rico etc. I think Italians are referred to as Italians and on the weird American totem pole of preferred species are rated a lot higher than the Spanish speakers. That last bit might not be very PC and I mean no insult to anyone, it is just an observation.
