I'm experiancing chest pains on my left side, they hurt a ton!! It hurts mostly when I breathe (or laugh) and its like a piercing pain. Its goes and comes but it mostly comes. It started yesterday afternoon. I'm not sure what I was doing exactly what I was doing when it started though. However I'm 98% sure I didn't bump anything into it. Plus I'm looking at it now and it doesn't look bruised or anything and when I touch it, pain-wise, nothing happens.
What's causing it? Should I see a doctor about this? What could help it get better?

I'm currently taking a regular strength tylonel (for different reasons) about 3x a day. Is this making it worse.... or is it helping it and the pain is actually much worse than it is righ now?

When I had similar pain, my mom told me it was gas in my intestines. No big deal. If it's bothering you a lot, see the dr. If not, just lay off the gassy food.

Chest pains should not be ignored, by any means. GO TO A DOCTOR. It could be a sign of heart attack, bursitis, a cracked rib, etc. I know when I have a bit of gas pressure built up that my chest hurts, and also with heartburn. If that is the case, get some Gas-X chewable tablets, or Rolaids. Read the article on chest pains at www.breathing.com for some excellent suggestions. Do the pains extend down your left arm to your fingers?? If so, then MAKE THAT DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT NOW.

It sounds like when we were kids and ran very hard and got a "stitch" in our sides. It 's not visible to the eye and couldn't be felt when you touched that area. And it pierces you with pain every time you take a deep breath. It takes quite awhile sometimes to get rid of it.
And it could be that you have pulled a muscle or torn cartilage which can be very painful. There are many things which could cause what you describe. Whatever it is, it would probably be wise to have a doctor's opinion.

You really need to go to the doctor if it's been there for weeks! I had a chest pain and I didn't get it checked up for just a week. I had an x-ray and it showed that I had pneumonia.

I was 17 or 18 when I had angina. Very shrp pains in the ribs, but, caused by poor circulation to the heart muscles. It can be dangerous. But don't worry. It is partly associated with anxiety and stress.
Has anything stressful been going on? Mine became very bad when I joined the navy...They found I had an elarged heart. Not a healthy thing, but not really dangerous either.

It is either Costochondritis, which is inflammation of the ribs and chest wall muscles, or Pleurisy, which is inflammation of the membrane underneath the rib cagge.
They produce shart stabbing pain worsens with deep breath, movement, or various activities. I can be caused by too much coughing, excessive repetitive activities, virus infection, or for no reason.
You can try some Motrin, take as directed. Also may try some heating pad and look to see what might be the cause - if you cough, take some cough med; if you do certain thing repetitively, stop. If you are not better, go see a doctor.

It sounds to me like you are having an anxiety attack. I have them a lot and they actually make it hurt to breath in. It is like someone is stabbing your chest. If you move your arms up it causes the pain to get worse and it feels like your heart is going to jump out your throat. Yeah, you should go and see a doctor. You have to find a way to de-pressurize or you may win up taking medication for it.

well.....it could be that you could still be growing or it could be anxiety. try not to worry about anything for a day and keep calm. if it is from anxiety your chest pains should stop or not be as bad. my chest hurt near my heart and when i realized it could be anxiety it completely stopped. every now and then if i worry too much about something it starts to hurt again. take a tylenol for the pain and seeing your doctor could help you figure out what its really from.

First, tell your parents. You can't get diagnosed from a bunch of strangers on line! They need to call your pediatrician and see what they say. It could be serious, or it could be a pulled rib tendon/muscle.
