I'm neither a believer nor atheist, but religions devolve into mere toxic superstitions the farther they are removed in time from the source; the original adept's insight into the nature of being/reality. This applies to all religions. Perhaps their only value is that they provide a link to the source for those interested in what's behind the superstitious nonsense.

I don't link religions with superstitions.....they are not the same things.
I'm an Atheist who believes as long as Church and State are separate religion in and of itself is fine.
If religion/faith in a higher being provides something good and positive for some people I have no problem with it at all.
The choices I've made are just for me.....what would it say about me to push those choices on someone else.

Because most people are forced to believe in them from a young age, sometimes giving no other lead on life... I myself think eventually that cultures will rip apart the earth's people, and possibly cause wars... As it is said: The world works in mysterious ways. And it always will.

Well; as a Christian myself, I believe that the toxin within religion is there for good reason. Religion is based on performance, which has nothing to do with authentic Christianity. Therefore, the perversion, that has infiltrated Christianity in the name of religion, has caused Christianity to appear flawed, bigoted, grandiose, manipulative, and down-right, plain, rotten !!! Authentic Christianity is based on relationship attributed to faith, grace and Jesus Christ - it is internal NOT external. Religion demands external conformance to works to attempt to gain God's grace and remain in it. Authentic Christianity is a transformation internally by God NOT by conformance to works.
Religion rightfully, deserves the "tag" it has hung on it !!!

My husband and i were just debating this earlier tonight. I think that religion has outgrown its use (explaining the unexplainable), and that it is just another excuse for people to commit atrocities, or even just to discriminate against certain people. It also stifles real scientific and intellectual progress for many people.
