Was Sunday changed to get more people who worshipped the sun to change from Saturday to the 7th day? There are those who contend that worship on Sunday is strictly of human origin ans, as such, is unauthorized by God. What do you say?

The Sabbath as a day of rest was establised by God in creation. But what day did the Sabbath fall on? The seventh day. Remember, names of the days of the week did not exist then. So the Sabbath was identified with the seventh.
With the coming of Christ, the Sabbath now became the first day since Christ rose from the dead on the first day of the week. The Church has always kept Sunday as the Sabbath.
But even before Christ, one could see that the Sabbath pointed to a different day. God created man on the sixth day. He rested the seventh. But for man, this seventh day would have been his first. So man's first sabbath would have been his first day of his first week. Thus, there is a theological precedence to celebrating the Sabbath on our first day of the week, which is Sunday.
And yes, the names of the week are of pagan origin. Sunday worship is not.

The change from Saturday to Sunday was not really any pagan basis for it, but rather a difference between the new testament and the old testament. The "lord's day" is considered to be the day that Jesus was crucified, and in an effort to distance themselves from Judaism, early Christian bishops changed the Sabbat to Sunday, the first day of the week instead of the last day. Sunday having to do with the Sun really only has a late Roman influence that is not really used by all forms of paganism except for greco-roman and neopaganism. It was also used as a Holy day for the God Mithras in Persia, which is where much of the influence of the Sabbath comes from. There is no real historical reference to the sabbath being on any specific day, because ancient hebrews did not have the same calendar that we had. It was something that was changed later in roman times. There is also no definitive day when Jesus was crucified or rose mentioned in the bible or in any other historical documents.

Sunday was the day of the week of the resurrection of Christ. That was the primary reason for the change of the Sabbath to the Lord's day of Christendom. Remember the Sabbath on Saturday was in rememberence of God resting on the 7th day of creation. Saturday was chosen because it was the 7th day of the week. Not because that was the ACTUAL day of His rest. So the Saturday sabbath was an arbitrary choice which could be redesignated, especially for a compelling reason.

the keeping of the sabbath on Saturday is just a symbol of twhat was to come (colossian 2:17)

it also tells us that no one is to judge you if you keep it or not (colossians 2:16) and (romans 14:5-6)

the sun god? you are adventist? they preach this kind of stuff.

christians find rest in Jesus, and thats the true sabbath (hebrews 4)

christians get together Sunday because its the day Jesus rose. in 1 Corinthians 16:2 and Acts 20:7 it shows the early christians gathering together on Sundays. the early christians preached to the jews on the sabbaths and came together on Sundays. On sundays they worshiped the one true God whom they preached, and not the sun.

I am a pagan,we don't do any thing special on Sundays.I am not good at quoting the bible, but I think that when your god created the earth he was suppose to have rested on the 7th day,so Christians go to church and rest on the 7th day Sunday.I hope this helps, like I said I really don't know.Pagans do not worship the Christian god.

When the early church was still struggling for converts, believers, alms-givers and other breeds of suckers they had to poach from other religions; the most prominent of these was the Sun-Worshipers' religion.
To make it really attractive for the sun worshipers to ‘convert’ they switched over to Sun-day from the earlier Sabbath which was Saturday.

Basically anyone doing church on Sun-days is a sun worshiper.
In actual fact there are those who contend that all of xianity is no more than an elaborate astrological religion.

It's an interesting subject to study from beginning to end in the bible. The 7th day sabbath was founded at creation. It was part of the 10 commandments. It was kept by Jesus and His apostles. Jesus spoke of it when talking about future events and it is written that it will be kept by those in heaven. How anyone can suggest it has been changed by God is beyond me.

Just about everything in christianity is copied from pagans.

The apostle Paul said that you could worship on any day that you wanted to.

The Bible says so. Case closed.
