Our home is about 2500 sq feet and we love it. It is roomy, has neutral colors throughout (light oak floors and Benjamin Moore wheeling neutral/carrington beige/richmond gray in adjoining areas to kitchen) and soft fern on the kitchen walls. Cabinets are maple stained and with the darker floor makes the kitchen look small and dark. Help! We want to replace the counters, keep the fern green paint color and possibly do a backsplash. Our style is cottage comfort with mostly greens and whites and small amt pinks/burgundy throughout our home. Was thinking about an atrium white on the cabinets with oil rubbed bronze knobs and a quartz or granite taupe contertop. What do you think? What about the backsplash? Thanks for your help...

White cabinets sound lovely and very cottage/garden/botanical. You might also consider a blond wood for your cabinets. This would impart a rustic, earthy sensibility. The blond wood would blend with the fern green and the flooring, too. If you decide on the blond wood you might consider a more auburn tone for your countertops. Not dark, but warm and coppery.

I positively love Benjamin Moore paint! I have Georgetown Pink Beige in my kitchen/breakfast/family room area and the master bedtroom. I'm working toward painting the entire house in that color. LOVE IT! It reminds me of liquid make-up in a paint can.

What color is floor tile? What color is counter?
Suggest:
1] tile the color of the light oak [ light golden brown? ] for floor
2] counter could be off white or light beige with beige/gray/fern speckles [ solids show everything ]
3] backsplash could be white; with fern and a tiny bit of pink or burgundy in occasional tiles
4] if you do re-finish the cabinets in white, then do the counters, backsplash, or curtains in the fern green

not sure it would work as I dont know the color of your tiles but if you are trying to brighten it up paint the room a buttery yellow, with the white cabinets and the quarts counter top sounds nice, how about a mirrored back splash or somthing really shiny to reflect light, I would go with a brushed crome for the knobs. hope this helps, but it is hard with out seeing your home.
