Technically, cousins aren't fully related to you and there are only like 5% chances of any problems in having a child with her. It is accepted in 20 of the fifty styes in America, Japan, the Middle East, Pakistan, and Great Britain; so, go for it. The real reason why cousin marriage is looked down upon is because people are too ignorant in knowing the truth that it isn't really a taboo and causes not much problems.

I don't know hun. I'm also in love with my cousin, however she doesn't love me like that to and we're both girls. She's a year older than me and I met her for the first time in five years last summer. It sucks. I became suicidal because I need her there for me but she lives in Japan and I'm here in America. I know how you feel because I am currently dealing with feelings of attraction toward my first cousin. If you're like me, you probably feel like "what is wrong with me" and "how could I feel this way?" Sadly in our culture having a romantic relationship toward your cousin is not accepted at all. In the sociology class I took in high school we learned that "incest" is the number one taboo in our culture and in many other cultures. (cousins having relationships actually isn't true incest, incest is between parents and kids, sister and brother, etc.) Suprsingly there are still about 20 states or so where you can legally marry your first cousin, and in all you can marry your second cousin. You could probably find a list online somewhere. But still its very unacceptable in this country and you should be prepared for the many negative reactions that you will receive if you pursue this relationship. Most of all, you should consider your family. How will they take the news? Are you prepared in the event that they will possibly cut ties with you? If you and your cousin break up, how will you handle it? You can have an ex boyfriend, ex girlfriend, ex husband, or ex wife, but not an ex cousin. They are your family for life. Above all else though follow your heart. If you feel so strongly about her, and are prepared for all the consequences and the battles you will have to fight, than go for it. You can't help who you love and love is a very special thing to find. That it happens to be with your cousin shouldn't matter.

Alright, let's see. Although incest is, in large part, a cultural construct, there are some biogenetic issues that are worth thinking about. In short, be cautious about making babies. Also, your family will probably have some pretty spirited objections to you two marrying, and I can't imagine eloping would work either. In my opinion, you're best off waiting for the feelings to pass. There are plenty of people out there and you have plenty of years ahead of you.
