I'm dying to eat pankackes in the mornings. With the syrup, and butter. But i'm on a diet, and it's just for the morning. I don't want to gain just by eating those small pankackes that you just heat up in the microwave then there you go. Well please help me out. I'll pick the best answer. Thanks!

Skip the butter. Maybe use a sugar-free syrup. They really are OK. Just remember, if you eat more calories than yesterday, you must burn off the excess with additional exercise.

The reality is that what makes you gain weight is carbs and fats. Pancakes are made with flour as you may well know which carrys a high percentage of carbs. Butter is pure fat and syrup is pure sugar which equals carbs. I am so sorry to tell you that there is no way you can have a pancake and not damage your diet. And worst, if you eat synthetic carbs in the morning you might crave more carbs the rest of the day. The good carbs you can have in a diet are the natural ones that come in fruit and in vegetables. Yiack!

I eat buckwheat pancakes, but not everyone likes them. If you make some small pancakes out of the batter and freeze them then reheat them, you can have them in the morning. Just get some reduced sugar butter flavored syrup and you'll be good to go. The important thing in dieting is to change things little by little so that you get into a habit. If it were me, I'd also just swap the syrup for some warm apples or blueberries. if you get the frozen kind they're just as good as fresh and you just heat them up in the microwave...yummy.

Get the NutriGrain variety, add butter spray (I Can't Believe it's Not Butter Spray has no fat, no calories, no trans fats!!). If you buy LITE syrup (made with less sugar), you should be ok. I eat that a couple of times a week, and it is pretty freaking good. BTW, I have lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks, so the pancakes don't seem to be a problem!

No, besides pancakes are very unhealthy. You can still have a hearty meal without eating unhealthy. Instead, start the day out right, with toast, eggs, fruit, cereal (not sugar loaded), milk, etc. All these meals take a while, you might even want to try a healthy granola bar in the morning with some fruit on the side. I have suggested eggs because it's proven that people who eat eggs consume (on average) much less calories throughout the rest of the day. :-D

You can have butter, just make it a really small amount; maybe the size of a water bottle cap. And instead of pancakes made with white-flour, try whole-wheat ones. And instead of syrup try fruit, like strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. And margarine, though less calories than butter, is much worse for you. It's a man-made substance and the body doesn't regonize it and crazes "real food," diet soda, which has many chemicals can have the same effect. Do not consume diet sodas, they have also been shown to cause cancer.

A good recipe for chocolate chip, banana pancakes-----
1 cup whole wheat pancake mix.
3/4 cups skim milk
1 table spoon canola oil
2 egg whites
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
nonstick cooking spray
2 bananas sliced

1. Combine the mix, milk, oil and egg whites with a wire whisk. When it's mixed but still lumpy, stir in the chocolate chips.
2. Spray a thin coat of nonstick cooking spray onto the skillet.
3. Put the skillet on the stove over medium heat. Drip a drop of water onto it. If the water sizzles and bounces, the skillet is hot enough to start cooking.
4.Pour 1/4 cup of the batter onto the skillet for each pancake you'd like to make.
5. When the small bubbles appear on the surface of the pancakes, turn them over to cook the other side.
6. Continue cooking for about 60 seconds, then remove the pancakes from the skillet.
7. Add bananas on the top of your pancakes, as well as blueberries and strawberries.
8. Enjoy! This dish has 313 calories, 7 grams of fat, 8 grams of protein, and 5 grams of fiber. The fruits have many antioxidants and phytochemicals, which are extremely healthy for you. And the dark chocolate chips have many flavornoids which are good for your health.

And about what another answerer said to your question. You should not restrict carbs on a diet or certain kinds of fats. Carbs are the substances that provide you with energy. Be sure to eat complex carbs which come from things like fruit and vegtables. Avoid simple carbs which come from things with immense amounts of calories and sugars. Also do not avoid all fats. You SHOULD avoid saturated fats as well as trans fats which are the worst for you. Monosaturated and polysaturated fats are actually good for the health of your heart. And omega-3 fatty acids are extremely good for your skin as well as brain fuctioning. You should COUNT CALORIES. A woman on a diet should have 1200- 1400 calories on a day and aim to burn 500. A man should have 1600-1800 calories and aim to also burn 500 calories. This will provide you with a two pound loss a week. And do not try to restrict your calories too much. A healthy women should have NO LESS than 1000 calories and a healthy man should have no less than 1400 calories. Skipping meals causes your metabolism to slow down, this causes your body to go into survival mode and burn muscles well conserving fat. You do NOT want this to happen. Muscles help you burn excess calories and excess fat is very unattractive. If you'd like to lose more weight try to excersise more. And also try to eat 3 meals a day and two snacks. And ALWAYS eat breakfeast. If you do not your metabolism will slow for the rest of the day. Try to eat within an hour of waking up. then in 3-4 hours have a small snack, like an apple. Then 3-4 hours later have lunch and so on. Also if you're craving chocolate or something sweet try VitaMuffins, each are under 100 calories and will keep you full for 3 or 4 hours. Go to vitalicious.com for more information. Oh and once again do not restrict your carb intake, count your calories; a friend of mine went on a low-carb diet and had to be taken to the hospital because she fainted due to lack of energy and hit her head when she fell. Oh and don't jsut do cardio, try strength training, it builds muscle which burns calories. Even when you're resting you burn calories. When sleeping you burn 60 calories an hour, a more muscular person might burn 90 calories which is a huuuge difference. Muscular people can also eat more because they have fast metabolisms, which basically means a fast resting heart rate. They burn more calories when resting as well as when they are not doing anything. And limit your television time. When you watch television you're body goes in to like a trance, and you actually burn less calories than you do when you're sleeping. Good luck on your diet! :D

Sorry. pancakes, butter and syrup are very fattening. But, if you're craving them, have them once, forget about them, and
go back to your diet. Maybe you could eat a little liter the rest of the day to help make up for it.

On the fat list, pancakes are near the top; all that butter and syrup has calories galore. But if you limit the quantity, and do so only one day a week, it won't totally trash your diet.

I think pancakes are allowed when you are on a diet, but forget the butter and use only a small amount of light syrup. Please keep your portions small and you could have many things that you thought you couldn't.
