She was recently caught (again) with marijuana. I'm fifteen and she is forty-two. This time I lost my cool and called her out. I told her it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard and that she was a disgrace to the family and herself. She was crying by the end of it. Was what I did the right thing?

Yes, you did the right thing, .... up to a point.
You help her by discourageing drug use.
Just don't take it far enough to break her down.
You're 15, she's 42. It's a hard judgement call to make.
She still knows a lot more than you, and you need
that experience, advice, and support.
She may need taking care of you to hold on to
as a way to beat the problem.

Addicts can feel remorse, they are human but till she WANTS to help herself find out why she needs drugs she will never be clean, and tho she may cry for a moment her need for her drug of choice is stonger than even the bonds of a mother child, Its hard but true. you could report her to social services, and they could force her into rehab, but doing that if she isn't wanting it isn't going to help, you can mention to her some counselling, most drug addicts do better with counselling to find out what makes them need to get high..encourage her to stay clean, how proud you are when she makes a conscious choice not to pick up her drug of choice...and I think you had every right to tell her what you thought, your life is affected too by her drug use, not just hers..Gl hon. Yes, you did. I guess my first question is does she work and support you, take care of you, provide you with housing? If not, turn her butt in. If she does, is there any family that can help intervene so that you do not accidentally get busted along with her sometime, or get the blame your self for her drugs? I think that you need to talk to someone about this, school counselor or something. Where is your dad? Can he be of any help?
