Neither is best. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it depends upon what matters to the individual user.
The Mac interface is better, and the Mac OS is more stable and there are fewer viruses. However, you have to purchase Apple hardware to run it, and it costs more. They also make it extremely difficult to upgrade components yourself. I really wanted to buy a Mac Pro, but I can build two comparable PC systems for the same price, plus I have more flexibility as far as getting the parts I want. In a house with two geeks and six computers, this is important. There is also more software for the Windows platform, but Mac excels at graphics and video work. Windows is better for gaming.
I prefer a combination of Windows and Linux at home. I run the web server, database server and mail server under Linux, and use Windows for the client side. Right now I'm playing with Ubuntu as a client as well, since they're doing some fun stuff with it, and considering building a new box to be a main computer that runs Ubuntu. I'd love to add a Mac to the mix, but I just can't justify the cost of the system I want. Plus, if there are hardware problems they make you lug the system to the Genius Bar at the closest Apple store, which I find incredibly annoying and a waste of time.

Mac users swear by Macs. PC users swear by PCs. I have both and can say, unequivocally, that Macs are better hands down.
Today, however, you can have the best of both worlds with the Intel Mac that runs both platforms.
Usually, people who like PCs don't know much about Macs. I used to teach Mac at a technology school where most of the students only knew PCs. They would start out by saying they just hated Macs and hated being in the class, which, by the way, was required. (In case you didn't guess...grin). By the end of the class, the students liked Macs and couldn't believe how much easier they were to work.
Why then, if Macs are so great, is the world so full of PC owners?
Well, for one thing, Macs cost more (you get what you pay for). But, then, instead of wearing out in three or four years, Macs keep going and going and going.
Secondly, the world of Advertising can take credit for perpetuating the myth that PCs are easier to work.
And, lastly, the gullible public can take credit...you know, those folks who were too lazy to really do their homework and who believe everything advertising tells them.
To answer your question: If you can, get a new Intel Mac and have the best of both worlds.
Thus, that brings us to you, a person who has the sense to do your research. Good luck in whatever you decide!

WINDOWS:
Macs aren't compatible with many things.
Windows is a much beter platform for gaming than Mac will ever be.
Windows aero makes Mac OS look like crap.
Get anti-virus software, a windows PC, and you'll be happy.
Forget about Linux, ubuntu, and the rest

Mac. You can get windows on a mac now so you can have both too! Not to mention there are a lot better things on macs the other. Like itunes, iphoto, built in webcam, garage band, imovie HD, watch dvds in great picture etc. And they are getting even better! Go to www.apple.com and learn more about them. Also watch all their commercials! They are great. :)

Windows. The commercials say "Switch to mac, you'll get the exact same thing." Why the f*ck would you switch if you get the EXACT same thing? Anyways, Windows all the way.
