I found one at a local gun store for $400. Just wondering if it's worth it.

Of course it's worth it.

First, the domestic supply of AK-47s WILL run out, eventually, as laws are enacted which restrict their import. Prices are almost certain to go up.

Second, it's a damn near indestructible gun, which will give you--and possibly your children, and their children, and theirs--decades of shooting enjoyment and, if necessary, protection.

From what I've seen the semi-auto AK-47 copies are roughly the same performance wise. There are better ones than the WASR-10s, but for how much more you'll spend vs. how much more you'll get out of it, I think the Romanians are a better deal. The accuracy on any of them will be sub-par, but they are very fun to shoot and well worth the money in my opinion. I only paid $325 for mine and it came with 3 30rd magazines, a bayonet, sling and bipod. But I have noticed they are getting more costly every year, I'd go for it while you still can.

With new State laws popping up every day all over the U.S., and updated Assault weapons lists and bans, I think these Romanian AK's are going to be the last we see imported for quite a while if not the last period. If you can get one for $400 I suggest you buy it. If you take care of it and maintain it there is no reason for it to lose much if any value. It's almost like money in the bank.

I have purchased several of the Romanian models. $ 400.00 is about the going price, they are very well made, accurate, indestructible, and easy to maintain (an AK needs cleaning every 5,000 rounds or once every three years). The were made with the KISS theory in mind (Keep It Simple Stupid); and they succeeded. The ones I purchased had a sighting in target included in the box showing their firing test results. Of all the AK's on the market I found the Romanian models to be the ones I fell in love with. Go forth and have fun.

I own two Romanian SAR1 and SAR3. One is in .223 and the other 7.62. I shoot them all the time and they have never given me any trouble. The one in .223 is extremely accurate too. I can hit a quarter from seventy five yards almost every time. $400 is about the average price off the shelf.

They are just fine. I bought one 6-7 years ago and have fired hundreds and maybe a few thousand rounds through it with no malfunctions. Get it and get plenty of ammo, because it is so fun to shoot.

Yeah it's reliable but whats the practicality of having one. Can't hunt with it. You could take to the range a couple times a year for shits and giggles but that's it. For home protection get a shotgun or for carry purposes an XD.

My friend has one and he has no complains about it.I think all of those AK clones are pretty much the same except acessories but you can just add them on anyway.
