I have Bronchitis and my ears are so congested....is there anything I can do to "drain" my ears? I blow my nose and I can hear the congestion moving through my ear canals. The pressure is amazingly strong. I can barely hear and it's making my equilibriam go crazy. Anyone have any suggestions?

You sound like you get bronchitis the same way I do - from the sinuses down to your lungs! I suggest a couple of things: guifenisen for the bronchial congestion (be sure to drink LOTS of water with this - like at least 8 ounces, preferably 16); Sudafed (or the generic - doesn't matter - 60mgs for an adult) for the nasal and ear congestion. You may also want to get some nasal spray (DON'T get the 12-hour kind; get the short-duration variety, like 4-Way in the red box). That will help shrink the membranes lining the nasal passages. Stay away from anything with antihistimine in it; that will only dry out the membranes, and keep the mucus right where it is. You can take Tylenol/acetominophen for fever if you're experiencing any. Taking a hot shower may also help by getting some moisture in the air around you; ditto for a vaporizer/humidifier if you have one. The person above was well-meaning, I'm sure, but do NOT take Benedryl for this, as it is an antihistimine, and will dry out the membranes as I mentioned.

I know all too well how awful it feels to be stuffy like that; I hope you're feeling better soon!

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

I am going to assume that you were intelligent enough to have already seen a doctor and are presently on an antibiotic. That being said, try taking Sudafed. This will clear out your ears and sinuses.

Are you taking antibiotics for the bronchitis? I don't know how to drain your ears, but the dr. used to give my child benedryl to calm the swelling, so maybe his ears could open up. Sometimes when I came home from the pool, there was water in my ear. We put alcohol in it, tried to drip it out. It usually came out by itself overnight when I was sleeping on my side.

Hey, have you tried chewing gum? It works on airplanes...
