There are over 100 million children in the world that are living on the edge of life and death. These children will die without enough food and clean water and the necessities of life. When God uses abortion, he is not "killing" he is saving lives. Each time a pro lifer "saves" a fetus he is causing the death of 12 loved and wanted children.

As far as the use of abortion by man, I am sure it occured the first time a cave man punched his woman in the belly. Something similar is even mentioned in the Bible.

There have been abortions as long as there has been recorded history, and likely before. Certain herbs have the capacity to end pregnancies and those were used for the same reasons women get abortions today. To end a pregnancy that is unwanted for some reason.

Of course, the ideal thing is preventing unwanted pregnancy in the first place, so if you're against abortion, you should favor contraceptives.

But for the record, "pessaries" have been around since antiquity as well as abortifacients.

abortions have been around since before the word was invented. in all species, animals will kill their young (and sometimes eat them) immediately after birth if they cannot care for them. which is why people get abortions...they don't have the means or energy to care for them. abortion as we know it today, just happens before birth because it's a lot easier (mentally) to end a potential life than right after it's born when it's a true life.

I think abortions are amazing. They should not be used as a method of birth control, but they are great in circumstances such as rape.

I am not being snotty, and we can all have our own opinions, but I truly hope that you do not judge people who have had abortions...it is a very personal decision, and is not to be taken lightly.

It's difficult to tell. Evidence is that they have been performed for thousands, if not 10's of thousands of years. We know the Ancient Egyptians did them, as well as many early European peoples. There is no conclusive evidence as to where it started though. It is likely a procedure that is as old as "medicine" itself (medicine being in quotes as a reference to eating tree bark and moss to cure colds).

How is it horrible? I mean, sure, we'd RATHER the children were born and raised... but it's not horrible if the woman may die due to pregnany complications or she was raped.

^ lilmomma86, why should the fetus's right OVERRIDE the mother's? Technically, it's a parasite to the woman's body because it takes her nutrients. And horrific mental problems could occur to the raped female were she to give birth.

Probably a woman who realized that it wasn't the right time for her to be pregnant, be it famine or what have you.
It's been in practice for a long time.
Many methods have ranged from eating certain herbs to sticking a broom straw up there and swirling it around til you bleed.
And I can pretty much garuntee that Neanderthal woman would give birth to her baby then kill it if she deemed it necessary; that's right, -after- it was born.
