Whenever I go out to a resturant there is always somebody sitting on the stoop, directly in front of the resturant smoking a cigerette. When I was in line for the 7th Harry Potter book, a lady was smoking in line, where there dozens of kids. I'm sick of walking down the street and breathing fresh air; than suddenly I'm breathing in second hand smoke from cancer sticks. It's so rude. Some people I know act like cigerettes are needed for survival. I have asthma and it really bothers me when I have to breathe in second hand smoke, because not only is the person's health and the people in the surronding area's health being jeapordized, I end up with a clogged nose and sneezing. What do you think about public smoking? Personally, I hate cigerettes and I am completely appaled by them. I grew up breathing in second hand smoke; with parents who had full knowledge about my asthma. I think cigerettes should be illegal.

Yeah, it does bother me when people spray a huge amount of perfume on themselves. In a locker room, it's really bad. I'm allergic to perfume, so I start sneezing. A little is okay, but some people go crazy and than they smell like cheap hookers.

I have allergies so it does really bother me when anyone smokes. I have worked in places where others were allowed to smoke and the smell would get into everything, clothing, hair, furniture, etc. It was just nasty! It is so bad for you to breathe second hand smoke and I try to avoid it at all costs. In our state, smoking is banned in many places and that has been wonderful, especially when you go out to eat. In other states where it is acceptable, it is really hard to go out and eat when the room is filled with smoke. I wish no one would smoke for many reasons but the major one is that it causes cancer. I have lost many relatives to this killer disease and just can't understand why anyone would put their lives in danger to continue this disgusting habit!

Where I live, there are restrictions on where you can smoke. Smoking inside buildings and patios is not longer allowed and smoking outside of a building is only acceptable if the smoker is standing a specific distance away from the building itself. As a non-smoker, I like that there are restrictions although I know smokers who absolutely hate the new laws.
I do think that people should have the choice to smoke or not but when it affects others, it's a problem. If I choose not to smoke, I don't want it in my face all the time. I'm usually okay with designated smoking sections as long as they're far away enough and closed off from the non-smoking section.

Yes, the same bothers me. I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke and must carry an inhaler in case I'm around someone who is (or was) smoking. The moment a person lights a cigarette in my general vicinity, my lungs close.
I do not think that cigarettes need to made illegal because people should have the right to put anything into their bodies that they wish, no matter how harmful. Free will and all that. But I do wish that smokers would be a little more considerate of others that do not wish to smell the smoke. (For those smokers that are consider, please accept my apologies! I know not all smokers are inconsiderate.)
When I was waiting in line outside the vet's office with one of my cats, the man in line ahead of me lit up a cigarette. I had my father hold my place in line while I went back to the car and took a few puffs on my inhaler. I didn't say anything to the man because technically, he wasn't doing anything wrong. It's perfectly legal to smoke in an outside place. It would have been polite of him to ask me if I could hold his place while he went and had a cigarette. I would have been happy to do it. Or he could have waited a little while longer. It's as you said--they act like cigarettes are needed for survival!

It don't bother me, I think all the second hand drama is over blown. My doctor smokes about a half a pack a day. As far as I'm concerned, we could all die in a car crash tomorrow. If smoke bothers you, then I suggest you go someplace that does not allow smoking, afterall, there are a lot of them. Making them illegal though is wrong, what a person does to his lungs is his business and thier right to do so. If you are bothered by it, then simply go the other way as a person would didn't like the way someone smelled. I know this isn't the answer your looking for, but you asked how we felt on it and I gave you my answer.

It bothers my lungs, but I'm certainly not going to tell someone he doesn't have the right to endanger his own health in a non-enclosed place like a street. On the other hand, smoking in places like a line where there are children is rude. It shouldn't necessarily be illegal, but people have the right to do it. The problem is that most people think mainly of themselves. It's not just smokers. It doesn't even occur to them that what they are doing may be inconsiderate and endangering someone else's heath. Some people will stop if you ask them to, others will continue because they just don't care and feel it's their right to do whatever they want regardless of the feelings of others. You just have to learn to live with the fact that people are not always thinking about your best interest and you have to either speak to them or move away.

I don't recall a president since FDR smoking a cigarette in public, cigars yes, but not cigaretts. I know you weren't talking about Obama, he hates the fact that he smokes, and is known to sneak one in the garden when no one is around. I have seen some photoshopped pix of him with a cigarette, but nothing real.

It bothers me when smokers stand in entrances where every one from the public HAS to walk past or through. I had that problem when I was pregnant and having to walk up to my building at work....I always had to walk through a cloud of smoke. That annoyed the **** out of me. I don't care if smokers smoke outside as long as it is out of the way of the public so that people can CHOOSE whether or not to be around it. There is wide open space after all.....

Smoking in public places does bother me. There are many smokers that I know that don't smoke near nonsmokers.
The problem that I have with smoking is that I don't want lung cancer, and I don't want to smell it because I am allergic.
It's one thing to give yourself cancer; it's a totally different story to give it to someone else.

It can be annoying, but I find people wearing $3 a gallon perfume and cologne much worse. The smoke blows away, but the stink from perfume and cologne remains.
