I went to a friends' youth group last week, and this woman was talking about this project they did in Tijuana to build a house for a very poor family. I thought that was great, but she kept mentioning how all money is "God's money", and how all the money we use actually belongs to God himself. My friend is pretty extreme when it comes to religion, and I was wondering if this is just her church that thinks this, or is this a common belief among Christians? Do people really think that the money they earn is actually God's money? I find it ridiculous, but I suppose that's what some people think. Anyway, thanks!

A lot of Christians take this view. They say everything they have, even talent, is on loan from God. So your friend means that since the money was used for a charitable act in God's name, it's his money.

Money Can Be Both Beneficial and Harmful. Money provides a defense against poverty and its attendant troubles, enabling persons to procure both necessities and luxuries. (Compare Ec 7:12; 10:19.) For this reason the possibility exists of a person’s beginning to trust in money as security and to forget his Creator. (Compare De 8:10-14.) “The love of money [literally, fondness of silver] is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.” (1Ti 6:10) For money, persons have perverted justice, prostituted themselves, committed murder, betrayed others, and falsified the truth.—De 16:19; 23:18; 27:25; Eze 22:12; Mt 26:14, 15; 28:11-15.

On the other hand, the proper use of money is approved by God. (Lu 16:1-9) This includes contributing toward the advancement of pure worship and giving material assistance to those in need. Although much good can thus be done with money, the most valuable things—spiritual food and drink, eternal life itself—can be obtained without it.—Isa 55:1, 2; Re 22:17.

My mother believed that. She felt that since our very lives come from God, and that every breath we draw comes from God, and everything we own was given to us by God, then our money comes from God, as well. It belongs to Him, and a certain amount of it is due back to promote His work on earth. He enabled people to have the health and skill to work for that money, and without His mercy, neither the person nor the money would even exist.

now do u belive in god? or mohomad or buda ?its all basically the same if mohamad made the world and all that are in it then we all belong to him ,or owe him our life ,god is the same he made this world we live in and all the plants and trees so all of it belongs to god ?so then so do i if he created all life even mine then we pay thanks to god for all he has given us yes i earn the money but if i wernt alive i would not be able to do the .this is gods garden and he has given us the opportunity to take care of it for him . if your mother or father brought you into this world would you not thank them ? as well we should always pay to god what is his from the beginning of time ,as you would surely help your mother and father if they needed it . we do this so that others caninjoy some of the blessings that god has given to us.kalista where are u from ? if you were from a nother country saying things aganist any gods especialy yours what would happen to you? here in the usa you have the right to belive as you understand , and if you dont understand something then you should not critasise it but that is your freedoom of speech . so before you say ridiculous you should find out more of that which you speak , if only for your sake take the time to learn about it so you can make better decesions about life and god
