The difference is, any man can be a father, it only takes the sexual act and conception to be a father, but to be a dad (or daddy) takes a real man, a man that is responsible and able to provide and care for a child. A dad (daddy) takes time to be with his child, teaches them life lesssons, takes care of them emotionally and financially, is there for games, first days of schools, for the first break up, for the graduation, etc. A dad (daddy) is connected to their child in the heart and soul, but anyone can be a father.

A father is formal, restricted, distant, and kind of cold. Dad is casual, friendly, close...Are you getting the idea? Anyone can be a father, but only a few can be a dad. "Father" is often used for those present at conception, and "dad" for those who were present throughout your life.

Anyone (male) can be a father. All you need is sperm. A dad is the man that plays baseball with you, stays with you when you are sick, and takes you places on sunny days!! That is the difference

This is something I have to deal with everyday. My sons father has never met him, doesnt want to meet him, looks just like him and left us before he was even born. My sons daddy loves him, plays with him, taught him how to fly a kite and spell his name.
I guess the difference is love.

Father = the person who got your mother pregnant with you
Dad = someone who raises you as his own and teaches you love and respect, regardless of whether or not he's your biological father
