It is under Humanities. Where do you think it should be?

Genealogy is categorized as a cross-study of History and Sociology. Both are considered to be Humanities, ergo Geneology is a section of the study of Humanities. As the category is entitled, "Arts and Humanities", the category is indeed in the correct section.

Well, it could be in the history section, but since it is an individual's history, it comes under "arts and humanity". I don't know about the "arts", but it definitely is "humanity". You can't get much more "humanity" than to trace your genealogy.

Just because it has a lot of amateurs who do it doesn't mean it should be in "Hobbies", like fly fishing and stamp collecting. Astronomy has a lot of amateurs who do it, and it is still a science.
