As said elsewhere - about 3 hours depending on time you arrive. If you leave at peak hour even the M5 and M7 get congested and that will add an hour. Allow a stop at Berrima or Goulburn so 3 1/2.
There are so many other things to do as well as Floriade at that time. Wineries, National Gallery, National Museum well worth the trip in its own right, there's some jazz in the vineyard thingy around that time, the area around the lake is just brilliant as the trees green up again.
Ticks to the 'accommodation is tight' answers but there are some great places to stay that aren't hotels (B&B's for example).

Around 3 hours... the trip is close to 300kms. Go along the Hume Hwy and stop at Goulburn (roughly halfway between Sydney and Canberra) for a break.

It take about three hours. If you take a bus it is three and a half hours to centrel station. Floriade is worth seeing as it spread out for quite a bit and the flower arrangments are spectucular. Come early before they start to wilt! There is also sometimes other things going on at the same time.

Depends where you are starting from but I did it in about 3 hours 20 minutes from Hornsby via tollways and under the Harbour. Once you are past the last toll gate you will not go under 80kph for most of the distance and you will be running 100 -110kph a lot of the way.

It is 270km and motorway all the way. You will do it comfortably in three hours, probably less. Floriade is worth seeing but it is very popular. If you want to stay overnight in Canberra, book now.
