If this is what we are getting to join the army, look for a draft real soon.

The answer is no all stuff you are not allowed to have will be put in a yellow envelope sealed and put in your civilian bag and locked away you won't see it until you graduate BCT and move onto AIT. You can't have cell phones or CD players or mp3's pretty much no electronics. You won't need it at night by the time you finish training your body will be so tired you'll see that bunk bed get into it as soon as your head hits that pillow you'll be out like the lights. Lights out is at 9 right after hydration formation

Forget the I-Pod. You'll live without it. Your Drill Sgt will come into your barracks anytime day or night. Getting caught with your I-Pod could be the kiss of death. You'll only draw attention to yourself, and you'll want to keep a low profile in basic training. Keep your mouth shut and do what you're told.
An I-Pod? You're just asking for trouble...and no offense to anyone, but you'll have a few 'scum of the Earth' thugs in your platoon, who will think nothing of beating your bottom and taking your I-Pod away.
Wait and see what the atmosphere is like for a couple of weeks. If you think you can get away with it, then you could have it shipped to you, or have a family member bring it to you on visitors day.

Yea right, and you're going to an all-male basic, too. They tend to be alot more strict than the co-ed basic's. I'm a female but when I went to basic, I couldn't even wear my own running shoes, had to wear the crap the army offers (which you have to buy.) But my brother is going to basic at ft sill next month, maybe you'll see him:) Depending on when you ship I guess.........good luck, and focus more on pushups and situps and running, don't worry about ipod's and cameras and email cuz its all pretty much non-existent till you graduate

Kevin you can take but you won't have it long. Someone will steal it. Ya see you will be living with other soldiers of a criminal back gound that you do not know. You know when it is lites out--thats it. Till 4am... Just warning you that every one is not Choir Boys. Theives-- Drugs --- and killers. They just have not been caught...There is those persons who join the Army to hide from who ever thay are running from. Hopefully it will better than that...

I had a cassette player when I was at basic training. I woke up the next morning and someone had taken the headphones off me while I was asleep and took the whole thing.
Moral of the story is you will be so tired that you won't have time for it.

the only music i heard in basic was the cadence my drill Sgt called. And at night your not even gonna have time to brush your teeth the first few weeks. I don't think you need that ipod. It'll just get broken when they lock it in the closet with your bag of civilian close.

Ft. Sill. Good luck in that humidity! You can bring it, but it will be put in you civi bag and locked away. Don't advise sneaking it in....bad juju! Best bet have someone send it to you when ya hit AIT. Less chance of it getting stolen.

No chance, bro. Your life isn't yours there. Don't even think about about bringing it. You get caught with it, you'll stand out and be remembered...and everyone looks the same to them at first. Once they know who you are....you will be picked for all the **** details and smoked more than others. Leave it home.

You can bring it..... it will be taken away from you though. Basic training is about you being the Army's *****... you have no rights or privileges... Good luck.
