Well it has been awhile since I dealt with on post vets, but when I did yes it was cheaper. It should be because the on post vet is not a business like a civilian vet. The services offer will differ from base to base. Some just do vaccines and others will do more extensive things. Also, it will depend on the size of the post. If you go to a really small post, they may not have too much to offer. Bottom line, don't have an animal on base if you aren't prepared to pay civilian prices, becasue you never know. They usually require that you microchip also.

Yes you can pets on base but there are restrictions, Usually only families who live in base housing are allowed ONE cat or dog that is under 35lbs now I am sure you could others but your fellow tenits would rat you out. As far as vet services the Army actually has a MOS where they work as vets and most Army bases have a vet clinic they have limited days that they are open usually 3-4days a week and I also think The Air Force has a vet clinic. The prices are much cheaper than a off base vet clinic, I am Rte Navy and my wife and I have a couple of small dogs, We have used the Army Vet clinic before but usually we choose to use our reg vet. I know that the Shots are almost 1/2 of what they cost off base so the the answer to your question would be yes.

Yes they can if you have housing, but not if you live in the barracks. They also have a lot of restrictions on what types though. The military vet is cheaper but not cut in half, but you will need another vet because they only offer basic services. If your pet has an emergency or needs surgery or anything more complicated than routine check ups & vac. they will send you some where else then you still pay full price. If you are moving there you should be able to go to that mil. bases web page & get more info on their restrictions!!

depends:

No pets of any kind in the Barracks

in Military family Housing: Most are limited to 2 pets per home, cats or dogs only. some do not allow pets at all, and some only allows small caged critters like hamsters.

The Base Vet only does inoculations and health certificates, they MIGHT do spaying and neutering as well, but nothing emergent or non routine. The fees are typically smaller, but definitely not half price.

NO exotic animals, NO aggressive breeds.

yes you can have pets on base BUT most bases restrict certain breeds of dogs (the base im currently on doesnt allow pits, rottys, wolf hybrids, staffordshire terriers) you are limited to 2 pets....dont let them find out you have more whatever you do. also alot of times many exotic animals are banned. (im not allowed to have snakes, iguanas, ferrets, sugar gliders, or hedgehogs) and many bases have some pet free housing, and sometimes its a long waiting list for the houses that you are allowed to have pets in. as for the vet, keep in mind the reason the vet is there is for the military working dogs. therefore they mostly see cats and dogs, every now and then you will find one that will see more. its a little cheaper on some things but not alot. also many times they only do vaccinations and blood tests and stuff. so be prepared to have a civilian vet as a backup for emergencys,

Yes, they can. No, they don't.

If you are married and living in housing, you will be restricted on the number/type of pets you can have. If you are single, it's up to the commander to decide what, if any, pets may be in the barracks.

The vets on base are not expensive, but they aren't cheap either. Personally, I've always taken my pets to off post vets. Not because the vets on base are bad, I just very rarely lived on base.

My parents had animals on base, but it was in a house.

Vet bills cost whatever the vet charges. Why should they be cut in half just because you're in the military?

You can have pets in base housing. IF there is a vet on base you will save money. But there are a lot of places off base you can get reduced prices on shots and such stuff.

Some can.

Vet bills - fort bragg did not treat animals for shots or spay or neutering.

On post *here* they do all of that and neutering was only $25....for a cat.
