Well, something that you can try is, wetting down the dry food, so it is softer. His body might not have been ready for hard food, so it could have been hard on his insides. Its not normal for him to have blood in his stools, and have a hard time doing his thing. So, soften up the food, and see if that helps and make sure he is getting enough water. If that does not help within the next few days, you might check with the vet. Just to be on top of things, you should take in a stool sample. The vet will ask you to bring one in soon after you take him in anyways. I know it sounds gross but they can do tests on it and find out a lot more!
Sorry about the kitty! If you need anymore help, please don't hesitate to ask.

Take him to the vet right now. There is definitely something wrong, especially since this has been going on for a whole week. Please take him to the vet or at least an animal shelter where he'll get medical treatment.

hmm, i think it does no longer probably be risky to apply infant shampoo on a kitten. i exploit it on my canines - it makes his fur spectacular and mushy - and he does not be afflicted by any reactions or something. only right off searching for a kitten shampoo, just to be risk-free nevertheless : )
