Soldiers of small stature were very vital in Vietnam. Lots were used as tunnel rats. Go in the enemy tunnels and kill those who were in the way. Then the runs were blown by demolition..
I new some little people and they have a lot of medical problems. Like ensepholits (water on the brain) and disfigurements. Be interesting to know who was in the service and his position..

Well if you were in the military, I would think you would know the answers to this question. Height weight requirements and the ability to run ( to pass the PT test)? How many little people have you seen on base?

I served in the Army for years and am only 4'11". I just barely made the height requirement by the skin of my teeth. If I had not made it there was no waiver available for height. Sorry, but that's the truth. BUT...I could see some jobs where they would be terrific. I had problems because my legs were short and always ran and marched twice as hard. But I loved it and was more than proud of my service. Very Interesting!!!

Height Standards:
Male- No one below 5 feet in height.
Female- No one below four feet ten inches in height.
During World War Two, "little people" performed meritorious service in assembly of aircraft engines and other military material which required working in very confined spaces. That continued into the jet age. Some of those "Munchkins" you saw in "The Wizard of Oz" worked as civilian workers for Lockheed at Burbank and Long Beach, as well as shipyards in Long Beach and San Diego.
Besides the height limitations, dwarfs have inherited conditions which affect their physical well being and result in a shortened life span.

It kind of looks like discrimination, i guess in a way it is. But there are some small Marines that have a hard time humping ( hiking ) with 80 lbs of gear on. everything is made for larger people. it would be to hard to accommodate a 4ft to smaller person. A smaller person would drag their weapon and probably couldn't carry a HMG or even an MMG on a hump.

Little people do some amazing things but a true little person would not meet the height and weight requirements for enlistment.

I know a couple of girls who have had to have a height waiver. They are tiny, 90 lb's soaking wet. I think 4'10 (not positive) is the official "little poeple" number. Now I looked it up, and correct 4'10" is official.
As a former SK in the Navy, I could see many obsticals for little people, but at only 5'3" myself, I did pretty good.

Hey...this reminded me of the little people who worked for Lockheed, during World War II. They were hired to crawl into tiny spaces in the bombers and perform electrical work. They were a great asset to any team at Lockheed. I don't know about the military service, but they absolutely did their patriotic duty to aid the war effort!
